| Quote: rubber duckie "Best to play them now so we won't face them again till the final. Unless hudds club call them on us.
Defo wire Leeds final for me. Wire to beat Leeds twice.'"
The only way Wire and Leeds will meet in the final is if there's a shock result for somebody in week two. If Huddersfield beat Wigan they'll pick the lowest ranked team for week three which obviously won't be the team that finished second or third. If Wigan win the winner of our game next week will get the call, and will only pick a different team in the unlikely event of Huddersfield losing in week two.
Essentially, unless the loser of our game next week also loses in week two, we will be playing each other again two weeks later at either the HJ or Headingley.
Since 2004 Leeds have played in seven out of nine finals, winning six of them including the last five they've played in. The two years they didn't get there were 2006 which, great though that night at Headingley was (and I was there) was massively unexpected, and 2010 when they lost to Wigan who were easily the best team in Super League that year. Even then Leeds made them do it the hard way by winning at the DW in week one handing Wigan an extra game and a trip to Headingley.
Leeds are in form, resulting in them finishing a place higher than they were expected to a few weeks ago. They've been the best team we've played this season (Widnes aside!) in beating us comfortably at their place and being unlucky to lose late on at ours, and their play off record as I've just stated is absolutely unbelieveable - breaking our hearts in the last two years to boot.
I'm not gonna lie here, no matter what happens next Saturday I'm terrified of week three!

| If hudds beat pies, but all the top 4 teams still make the last 4,
I bet they become the 1st club callers not to choose the lowest rank club. They will defo choose pie over pasties!

Wigan are the lowest ranked club of the top four.

| Leeds cannot be the lowest ranked club. If Huddersfield win they're the highest ranked. If they lose then the winner of our game is. Leeds will therefore be ranked either first, second or third depending on results.
The lowest ranked team will either be Wigan or a team from positions 5-8 that beats a top four team in week two if any manage it.
Either way no one is choosing Leeds and I'm fully expecting us to be playing them in week three with next week's game simply deciding the venue and which team gets a rest.
The week one play off games are farcical really because I'll admit I felt very flat when we lost to Saints last year but I didn't care about it at all when we were at Langtree Park two weeks later. The same no doubt applied to Wigan fans in 2010. With the benefit of experience I obviously want us to win next week, but it's not the be all and end all. Leeds are the last team I would want to face in week three no matter how it comes about, but it's very likely we'll be doing just that.

If Wigan win they can't be club called, and I'm certain neither us nor Leeds will choose the League Leaders so if Wigan win they'll still be playing Huddersfield again in week three unless a lower ranked team beats Hudds first.
The play off format is ridiculous is with second chances and repeat fixtures, but I can't see a team from positions 5-8 winning at any of this year's top four other than possibly beating Wigan on current form. I think Wigan will turn up when it matters though, so I'm still expecting Huddersfield V Wigan and Wire V Leeds in week three with only the venues to be decided in the meantime.

I think that next week will be a real test for the Wire, the winner’s next week will I think have the real belief to get to the GF. As for us if we don’t show next Thursday with at least a good game, I don’t see how we could have a chance to progress, but your game looks a real cracker, and I can’t wait for it to kick-off, I can see a game of muck and bullets, bring it on!
Been that way all season .... Leeds, Wigan, Wire been treading water, then having a good old 'muscle flex' against each other ...meanwhile Huddersfield stole a march and came out on top .......
Have to agree about Wigan looking like a team who, for whatever combination of circumstances, have simply run out of steam ....... be funny for the neutral if they lose to Hudds the end up having to play Saints the following week
Nice listening last night that, according to Sky's goon commentators, Huddersfield have beaten all the other top teams home & away .... ermmm, have they now!!!
Only issue I have with next weeks warm up game is the prospect (if Wire lose) of having to trapse up to Leeds on a miserable rainy night and face them in a knockout game on their terms .... sure their fans are feeling exactly the same!

| Two games we always lose, Leeds away and Saints at home. I'd be dreading the former if it came up. The only teams I'm worried about are Leeds and Hull.

Before we started winning things, Briers drop goal at Headingley in 2006 was probably by favourite Wire "moment", and after years of utter misery in St Helens, Langtree Park last year was better than Wembley for me.
I don't mind going away in week three if needs must. Home or away I'd rather be playing anyone but Leeds in those circumstances though

Depending onthe final positions decided this weekend amongst the 5-7 teams, and then results next week, we could have to play Saints at home in week two for the right to go to Leeds away in week three...

| Say no one from 5-8 gets to the semi then we play Leeds
Wigan and Leeds win next week Leeds get club call and pick us as the lowest side.
If we win and Wigan win we pick Leeds as the lowest side
If Leeds win and Hudds win, Hudds pick Wigan as the lowest side and play Leeds
If we win and Hudds win Hudds pick Wigan and we play Leeds.
The only thing that changes is HJ or Headingley as the venue.
We need to beat Leeds and hope someone knocks them out a week later, Hudds then pick that side and we get Wigan.
