| This kind of thread just shows what hypocrites rugby league fans are.
If Warrington had gone through the semi final and final nilling their opponents, and there was a thread from other club's fans saying it was the worst game ever we would be saying they were all bittermen and praising Tony Smith and our defence for being able to grind out a win and play the conditions positively.
Also if Stephen Jones the RU journalist writes in the Times tomorrow about how rubbish the CC final was, he will be getting death threats from RL fans for daring to suggest The Greatest Game is anything but a spellbinding spectacle of brilliance.
The problem is rugby league today is in a relatively weak period in terms of talent at the top. I know its not what we want to hear as Warrington fans, that our era of relative success has coincided with the game being generally weaker but that is the case.
When the great Bradford and Saints sides (that we hated) were around in the 2000s, we had a playoff system in Super League, but nobody complained about the playoff system or that fans were not interested in the league fixtures because of the playoffs, the game was strong because there was quality at the top end, they fought every game hard and the big finals even when they weren't classic games, were always interesting because of the top players you had.
When the great Wigan side (that we hated even more) was around in the 1980s and 1990s, you could turn up to a big final like this and be guaranteed to see some of the games greats. We were spoiled back then because we'd be watching Edwards and Bell playing against Schofield and Hanley or Davies etc.
Nowadays there is not much talent around at the top end and the game is weak, thats the truth. Wigan have seen better days but at least they won the Challenge Cup and its another trophy for their cabinet so good for them, also Wigan are at least giving rugby league fans one proper exciting player to watch in this era barren of talent.
I'm sure before long the game will be under attack from outside the sport and we will all be rallying together to defend it.....all I will say is thank feck the Kangaroos and Kiwis are coming over for the World Cup in a few months as they will at least give our supporters something to watch.

| It was never going to be a classic in the conditions. Hull play a conservative game and rely on capitalising on opposition mistakes. Unfortunately for them, they made more mistakes than Wigan, who were always in control.

| If I wanted to follow a sport with tattooed oafs who are getting bigger and bigger in my opinion by dubious methods...I'd follow WWE...Todays game had zero entertainment value unless brute force and ignorance floats your boat that is. The more games I watch the more convinced I am I'm right to turn my back on the sport. Flair and skill are now a distant memory.

| Wasn't the best game to watch. Not that Wigan will be bothered anyway. Could be Wigan v Hull have played out the best and worst CC final in recent memory. There have been some exciting CC finals in recent years not just from a Wire pov but the Wigan v Leeds game two years ago was a good final to watch, Hull v Leeds a few years ago springs to mind.
I think the theory behind the Rhino ball playing its part should be considerred. We have seen numerous games especially in damp conditions where teams can't control the ball. If it is a 3 year deal as stated, the RFL should get their legal team to get out of the contract and go back to steedan balls.
Only a year ago Wire and Leeds played in a thunder storm and I don't remember the amount of drop balls as we have seen today and in recent games.

| It was a poor game but the number of knock-ons had little to do with the ball. Hull seemed to think you could catch the ball whilst looking at the incoming tackler, Wigan were poor but luckily for them Hull were plain abysmal.
Hull had their final when they beat us - we were making them look ordinary until Bridges mind implosion, then we just fell apart as we did against Widnes. Wigan have been in dire form for a month, put the two together add wet conditions and there you go, insomnia relief.

| Here lies the subtle difference between the two codes of rugby football in this country. Had that have been some kind of final at Twickenham we would be reading page upon page about how brilliant it was. In league we can't wait to get on our soapbox and hyperventilate about the end being nigh.
The ARL has taken the RFU's lead on this, they pump out the propaganda and the general public buys it. Origin was poor this year, but Rabs et all tell you it's the best series ever until everyone believes it.
Rather than go on about how poor Hull were we should look at how we managed to slip up against them last month. Had we won at Wembley in the same style as Wigan it would have been an ouystanding, drilled, Melbourne-esque performance.

a show piece game in a great stadium and we had an absolute dreadful final.come october when conditions will be a lot worse you will see a much better spectacle as we have done for the majority of grand finals..end of the day wigan have won the cup and good luck to them and as for hull hard luck bet we are not bombarded with there fans on our site like after the semi...

| Unless you were down there you couldn't realise just how bad the conditions were. It was heaving down. Wigan played the better wet weather rugby, just as Widnes did the other week v Wire.
BOTH sides defended really well, it's a side of the game that the vast majority of spectators seem to ignore, Harrison Hansen was superb in that facet of his game, how would have got the Lance Todd for me.
Anyway that's Challenge Cup #19 for Wigan, the third time we've nilled a club at Wembley and now become the FIRST town to hold the F.A. Cup and Challenge Cup in the same year.
Not bad for a little town eh!!!

Happened after the semi final too.
People going on about how bad it was for the game that Wigan smashed London.
Whereas in the Champions League semi final, Bayern beat Barcelona 4-0 and 3-0 in the two legs, and all the focus was on how great the Bayern team was, not would all the sponsors pull out...

| After playing my worst round of golf in recent memory, and having the relentless four hour thudthudthud of ####ing Creamfields in my ears, I was looking forward to catching the second half of the CCF. I wish I'd've stayed out on the course and put up with the tourtuous "dance"music.
A shocking match, which, unfortunately, is our showpiece game of the season to the majority of the sport watching nation.
We had our chance to be there, but blew it.
Wigan won. When their name was engraved on the cup, there is no asterisk saying
2013 Wigan* (but they played crap) next to it.

As frustrating as the Widnes game was for Wire fans it still wasn't a bore fest in the same condition.
