| Quote: RED LEAGUE "Ha ha ye so funny these Wire fans seem to forget the relegation battles they used to be in and the hammerings they used to take before the money. Guess what we have money now come back in a couple of years when we've built a squad to compete with yours and see if you take the mickey then. It's easy to kick a club when it's on it's ar$e let's see you do it when we strengthen and all your BIG players retire because like it or not your stars are ageing and won't last forever.'"
So all YOUR fans that have constantly kicked the club while it's down, all YOUR fans that have left in their droves, all YOUR fans talking billy big b-ll-ks now KCASH is throwing his money around are not kicking a club when it's down and being arrogant?
We only say what everyone is thinking and i'm pretty sure that isn't the definition of arrogance.
You've been poo for years, you're still poo, your new boss is an arrogant big mouth (although i'm glad you have him).
No one doubts OUR poor recent history and no one doubts that Salford may be a future force to reckon with, maybe you might want to chill a little?

your Coach has a big mouth so that makes two clubs with people big mouthing it off. Difference is our big mouth is giving RL some much needed press coverage.
And if you read up the page it was one of your arrogant fans that was taking the plss out of my club, so I thought I'd give him a little reminder of how your dark days wernt that far in the past.

| Your fans are no different, Wire always getting labelled arrogant yet i see no difference between our fans and any other club bar London.
Pretty sure Tony's 'big mouth' also gave the game a bit of press coverage.

We were a turd that Simon Moran and Tony Smith polished between them so don't write off Koukash and Noble.

except we were challenging for the Title in 1994 and regularly appearing in many finals and winning quite a few of the so called minor trophies before that.
And even the last few years of Wilderspool when were nowhere men we had players like Langer to watch......"some turd....some polish....." (nearly winston churchill only different)

I tried to embrace the whole Wolves thing, But, I have yet to hear 1 supporter shout 'come on Wolves' on the terraces, even my youngest, who was born after the super league era started, shouts for 'The Wire'.
In fact.. If it was not for Joel scoring tries, and 'wolfie wolfie show us your ass' there would be zero canine influance at the HJ.'"
Sorry mate not wanting to be a nit-picker (it makes me smile when folk do it to me) but I think the word should be vulpine. lol

Exactly.
Warrington Wires would be a stupid name. Wire/Wires is our nickname and probably the second strongest traditional nickname in RL after Saints because even most opposition fans refer to us as that, but our name is Warrington RLFC.
Wolves means nothing to me and never has.

| What's with all the negativity towards salford? We should be pleased they have a rich backer that is doing everything he can to drag them up and re-brand them. There is a smack of arrogance how some of us are talking about other clubs, not to long ago we were a struggling club and hated the arrogance of wigan fans etc..

Unless you're a kid I don't think it has to. They'll always be the Wire to me but when I take 77 Junior to the game in a couple of years, I expect it'll be easier to get him engaged with a man in a wolf costume than the match.
As for Red League, I recall him behaving exactly like he is now the last time Salford were going to be millionaires spunking cash like it's going out of fashion. I'm sure Mr Koukash will put Salford in a much better position than they have been previously, but it's a bit rich (pun intended) to arrogantly call people arrogant. I have no beef with Salford at all - good luck to them.

I have a beef with Salford's ground. It's in a really far flung destination that takes ages to get to on the bus from Manchester. The tram ride to Weaste was much quicker and more convenient.

| Anyway leaving the puerile 'my dad is bigger than yours' bickering to one side, what do people think to the name change?
Smart move for mine, will generate plenty of publicity and help the club identify with Mancunians, without abandoning the Salford name. The only problem I can see is that the vast majority of people probably don't realise that Salford were the original red devils and will see it as nicking the name from that soccer club whose name escapes me. That could potentially alienate supporters of the blue soccer club.
For what it is worth I think Warrington reverting to RLFC/Wire/Livewires would be a ridiculous move. Just because people don't shout 'Wolves' on the terrace doesn't mean it is a failiure, it gives the club a strong corporate brand which is well recognised. A big 'W', a bit of wire or the borough coat of arms doesn't have the same effect. Wolves also makes it a lot easier in terms of merchandise, and as others have said attracting kids etc. It's not like it was picked at random based on alliteration either like with other clubs, it is relevant to the town and club.
