Briers has had surgery on his neck, last week i think (According to his twitter). According to Smith on Warrington worldwide interview hes taking it easy with him so to avoid any re-occurring injury. He expects it could be anywhere from weeks to months until hes back. So basically he either doesn't know or doesn't want to say.
