| Quote: garyhulsefan "These claims of wire fans heckling a player knocked out cold seem to be fairly unsubstantiated considering the Widnes player out cold was at the other end if the pitch. I'm assuming you mean that one as I can't remember any other player being knocked out and didn't hear a peep.
I can also tell you first hand that it was definitely a lot more than one Widnes fan interrupting the minutes silence back in 03. But hey, lets not have facts get in the way of things.'"
Whatever way you want to justify it, go for it. I was sat near your fans and when Marsh collided with another of our players he was down for a good few minutes and there were boos from your end along with shouts of get up you tart, it's not football etc. When he was helped to his feet and led off there were ironic cheers.
I've not denied anything about 03 and I clearly recall an individual voice over the general silence - if there were more (& I'm not saying there waeren't, I just don't remeber them) then my long term memory is as bad as your short term one.
Quote: garyhulsefan "
Your right. Short memories in Widnes though, what about when Myler got injured last Boxing Day. Your fans acted like they won a Super League game
Wasn't there that day so I can't comment

Sorry about that. We think one of the remote servers crashed. We noticed that our listening measure suddenly halved but everything looked ok at the stadium. We texted people we know who were listening (while we were commentating) and they said everything was coming through. There are however a number of servers and it looks like one crashed. Our apologies and we'll be aiming to cover most games this year.
Thanks for listening

I was there. Time and a place to say something, granted, but they simply shouldn't have had a minutes silence for a royal.

I wasn't at the match in question, or aware of the incident before reading this thread, but I agree with that.
In a similar vein, wait and see if they have any "silences" when Thatcher finally goes!

| Anyway, back to the match. I thought it was a good hit out in poor conditions for a very young team. Only 2 of our starting 13 were in there – Carvell and Riley.
Rhys Evans was very strong at left centre and tackled everything that moved as well as looking very dangerous on attack. We were solid under the high ball too.
O’Brien and Mendieka (who scored a great try) did well at half back and the pack worked hard as a unit.
Widnes defended their line really well and came back pretty well considering the weight of possession and territory we had in the first half.
Ref had a good game apart from the Shaw ‘no try’ which was a bit of an odd decision. There must have been a few Widnes fans attending their first game as they didn’t appear to understand the rules judging by the amount of booing at the refs decisions. Oh, and every Warrington pass was clearly forward……..

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |

| Apologies for my part in derailing the thread.
Didn't see the game but in the same theme, we've basically got 2 friendlies this year and only one real hit out for the 1st team. Interesting shift from a few years back when we'd play 3 or 4, albeit with an academy team playing one of the games. Presumably coaches don't see any real value playing them. Certainly, testimonials aside, I don't see any value in watching them.

I'd say that's a pretty good assessment of the game. Evans is a handfull and I've liked him as a player every time I've seen him. On the forward passes, maybe we're still adjusting to the new era where the rules are, shall we say relaxed on what constitutes a forward pass.....momentum rule mumbo jumbo etc. I thought the ref was average but he's not on his own there in refs circles. We seem to get pinged for the offences other teams get away with so fans get frustrated. We got done for holding down and from our fans perspective Higham & Wood were at it all afternoon. We did get away with a major forward pass but we were a little quiet on that one .

How many of those playing yesterday are likely to be in your first choice 13? I wasn't sure but guessed at about 4/5 with people like Ah Van, Phelps, Winterstein and Cahill.

More like 8 or 9 'guaranteed' starters. We have the likes of Brown, Briscoe, Cross, Hanbury, Pickersgill, O'Carroll, Clarke and White to come in who will make up the match day 17. Craven is turning into a good player as shown by his 2 try's and has the ability to cover the halves, full back and hooker. The rest of the lads on show will be bench/fringe players but IMO we need a centre and a back rower to stand any chance of a move away from the basement area this season. We're still a newish side and hopefully the team will gel more in the second season in the absence of more 'big name signings'.

Wouldn't condone any of that but there is a diffrerence cheering a big hit and an opposition player feeling the effects of the knock rather than jeering a player who is lay motionless on the ground with who knows what type of injury he has!

| Also i thought that young ref had a good game. he seemed to get the majority of the decisions correct... Pulling wire back from the full length of the field try was an odd one though....
The stick he got off the widnes fans was unbelievable though...for a friendly as well... every time he gave a decision to wire, they were foaming at the mouth.... ive never heard so many ginger related insults in my life.
The one thing that i will take away with me from the game was the number of times i heard up to 100 (probably more) people shout FOOOOOOOOOOOORWARD in unison... They have deffo been practicing that one for next season. They even made the saints fans look conservative in their appealing, and THAT takes some doing.

| Funny how the more trophies you win the more you get catcalled, booed and jeered by the opposition.

| Hmmm, does that translate to catcalling an 18 year old kid for dropping a high bomb....not sure how successful he's been. Anyhoo, enjoy the catcalling, it shows success has come your way..........up until the last few years it must have been a little dull listening to the polite applause that came your way......
Too roo folks, roll on the season proper!
