| In the current climate, and for the forseeable future, the calibre of overseas signings will lessen. I can see a whole lot more Toyota Cup players heading this way. Fair play to HKR for snaring Burns, but that willbe pretty much the end of it.

| Two good players who will go OK for Wigan next year so long as the Wigan pack give them the opportunity, but hardly likely to 'set the world alight' or become MoS contenders. If Briers had called it a day this season, and/or Myler picked up a career ending injury then I would be totally underwhelmed if Smith and/or Green were brought in as their replacements.

Some people have Ratchford down as a full-back, but I see him as our future number 6, alongside either Myler or O'Brien depending on their future progression.

So if you had to go into the market to replace either or both, who would you sign? In other words, who else should Wigan have signed? I'm not overwhelmed with these signings, particularly Smith, but pickings are slim at the moment and don't look likely to improve any time soon.

I honestly don't know who'd be available that I'd want us to sign, fortunately it's something (as a fan) that I can put off thinking about for another 12 months. I guess it's a sign of the times that the UK salary cap, the Aussie Salary Cap and the lack of quality halfbacks means that even the 'mighty' Wigan Warriors can only find good (rather than great) replacements for Finch and Leulai [i(sp)[/i.

Well out of the players that are moving clubs this season I would say Travis Burns, Rangi Chase, Holdsworth and Kevin Brown are all better options than Green.
Going back 12 months then Ratchford would have been available but at the time apparently he was "Wigan quality". Funny how standards can change in as little as 12 months. Poor squad management from Wigan to lose both first choice halves at the same time without replacements already in-situ.

| I think Green will be a good signing but you could have signed Holdsworth ahead of Smith.

I understand what you say, gdmm, but, let's be a bit daring and not even go for the Toyota Cup players.
Let's nurture our own talent, and not be obsessed with HAVING to fill our overseas quotas.
If we want to compete with the Southern hemisphere, we're not going to do it with SL clubs chockfull of overseas players. Let talented young halfbacks progress their talents at their respective clubs, instead of being crestfallen, because their club has signed another 29 year old Antipodean, because they (the Aussie/Kiwi) weren't being offered another contract down under. I wont hold my breath, though.

I like that, I really do. What is this rated amoungst professionals business? Who are your sauces?
Tits or GTFO.

If the other two halves from Salford and Rovers were lining up for Wigan next season I'd be much more wary of how good they'll be.

HP and Heinz?
If it's any consolation I know the answer and don't see any reason to question the statement.

| Holdsworth is a better option than Smith, but Green is about as good as you'll get in the current climate.
