I bet you've only heard of a handful. The vast majority are 'normal' people.
I would prefer it to be called the Order of Lenin then we could see who got honours for service to the great fatherland and it would not be associated with monarchy and imperialism.
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Sinfield has been nominated for an award and turned it down being as he is a supporter of Che Guevara and all that. On the letter telling them that they are nominated it requests them politely that if they don't want it, not to draw publicity to the fact they are turning it down which is why you don't hear about it. Otherwise I'd be sally cinnamon MBE for services to internet forums.

Adrian Morley great RL player for Leeds also .He won a SL GF as a guest player when Bradford broke the cap.We dont really want to go into a MEASURING CONTEST do we ?we all leave that the the unmentionable forum. If Mozza had been awarded a MBE I would have been delighted for him his family and the sport. There has been speculation among the Leeds fans about Kevin Sinfield ,If he was awarded an Empire medal wether he would accept or politely refuse because of his thought to be left wing socialist political beliefs.

He got awarded for services to RL! not for 4 games when he regained his match fitness ,but I did say we dont want to get into a measuring contest, but if you take a look at his record he is the most succesful player in the SL era, then again I think i'm correct in thinking Garry Schoefield also got a similar award for services to the game and he didnt win very much

"Paul Ruddock. Philanthropist. For services to the Arts. (London, W11)"
Nice way to describe him...
This is the bloke that's given over £500k to the Conservative party since 2003 and whose company 'made' £100 Million from the financial crash. Disgraceful.

| And if you really look through that list then you'll realise that there are [inot[/i many 'normal' people.
How about "Henry George Victor John Crichton Erne. The Earl of, Lord-Lieutenant of County Fermanagh".

I misread the post Ithought it was going back to the earlier one implying that Peacock got awarded an mbe for 4 matches, sorry, but I have stated lets not get into a measuring contest there is a forum that does that down at the bottom.I reiterate If Adrian Morley had been awarde an medal I would have been delighted

| Too many toys out of the pram on this one.
Peacock. Top player. Tons of medals. Conducts himself with dignity (most of the time). Does he deserve a gong? Course he does.
Sinfield, Morley have a similar cV. Will they get a gong? Hopefully.
ATEOTD, you can't give everyone a gong, who's acheived a lot, in our game. There aren't THAT many to start with (who have been given one).
On the broader issue of gongs and their relevance. Of course they are relevant. They indicate achievement/people who have contributed to society/charity. It's only a few letters after someone's name. Too many knickers in twists for my money.

| Colin Welland said it best about Brian Bevan (from his unveiling of Bev's statue speech think)
(Roughly)"If he was a footballer he would have recieved an MBE, If he was a cricketer he would have been Knighted, he was neither, he was a Rugby League player so recieved nothing."
to be honest the honours list means nothing to me, I know very little of the people given the letters.....and even less about why they deserve them. its on a par with the BBC sports personality of the year
anyway so many dicks and nobs are knighted obe'd cbe'd and mbe'd it seems an honour to be missed out these days...
