1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

| Quote: Rob Wire "Ben Westwood had nothing to gain and everything to lose by coming out and saying he was play acting after the Williams high shot, he's now created a situation where refs will think twice before giving him a penalty even if its warranted.'"
I don't get this. The penalty should be given, before/regardless of the players reaction to receiving a high tackle. You get hit high, it's a pnalty whether you are on your feet on on the ground.
What Westwood is saying, is exactly the same standpoint as Terry O'Connor following his dust-up with Tallis; you can hit me as hard as you want, it has no effect.

| Their were better ways for Westwood to have got his point over to Tony Williams that his high shot didn't hurt, he should have lined him up for a big shot later in the game and knocked him flat on his back side legally, Westwood has done that kind of shot plenty of times. He could have whispered in his ear whilst he was on the floor that his cheap shot had no effect on him and he was play acting etc
Similar to how Kidwell dealt with Mason for disrespecting the haka, all legal with Mason being left on the floor and Kidwell having the last laugh.
That way his pride is kept in tact whilst he gets the last laugh, now refs won't be sure in the future how much a lazy tackle or lazy arm has hurt him and how thick he's laying it on, that can be the difference between a straight red or benefit of the doubt and being put on report because of who is involved, similar to the play actors in football like Suarez, Drogba and Ronaldo to name a few.
Towards the end of Ronaldo's United career his previous play acting caught up with him, he should have got penalties when he didn't get them. Thats because he had created a rod for his own back, nobody knew if he was acting or he wasn't even when he had genuinley been brought down in the penalty area.

I agree (But without staying a fraction too long in the tackle). One of England's better performers for me.

| Ben Westwood, for me, right now is the best forward in the world; he is playing out of his skin and there is nobody out there that I would rather have in my pack than him at the moment.
He must have pushed Sinfield very close for Man of the Match tonight, although to be fair to Kevin he did have a blinder as well.

| what an amazing display from Westwood tonight..... absolute quality.
You don't get 2 below par games from him in a season... let alone in a row.
we're very lucky to have the failed centre.

[quote="Saddened":15kig0eg]Pat Richards is poop. A typical, average, run of the mill NRL outside back. Nothing special at all. Like Barrett he is a myth. He is solid enough, he can catch, he can kick goals.[/quote:15kig0eg]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7958.jpg |

| Fantastic forward and another outstanding display. This guy has to be one of the best forwards currently in the England team, and one of the best forwards in this 4 Nations. Hope his form continues next weekend, hopefully Ellis is back fit and then you couldnt ask for a better 2nd row.

| (To the tune of the Lpool "Championé" and City "Balotelli" song);
"Ooaah Benny Benny, Benny Westwood, he's a Wire.
He runs and tackles hard, and he'll put you in the dirt
Is there a better player in a rugby league shirt?
Oooaah Benny Benny....."

I disagree, i can't remember the last time i saw an impressive display from Ellis in an international shirt. I thought we looked better without him last night. JJB had another very good game from the bench, Wilkin was better last night than against Australia, he ran some good lines.
Ive not been convinced by Chris Heighington at all so far, if Burgess and O'Loughlin were fit i doubt he'd get near the team especially the starting 13, he'd be no use from the bench as he isn't an impact player. He needs to do more especially with the raps he gets about being a key player to the West Tigers.

| i thought westwood was excellent against the aussies last week, couldn't understand the bad press he got for giving away a couple of penalties, all our forwards were on and off the field every 10 minutes last week apart from him, and i thought he held it all together, last night was the same i think he did about 70 minutes, hats off to him he gives his all and his workrate was phenonimal, the unusual thing about him is he looks knackered after 5 minutes but he is everywhere on the pitch and still going strong at the end, shame lockers had to miss the tournament because not much would get past those 2 together in the same team.
