I think a 50% discount on tickets for ST holders would be a good idea.'"
I don't.
I'd estimate, on the low side, that 70% of season-ticket holders still attend the play-off games. Call it 20 quid for a club with 10000 season ticket holders.
£20 x 7,000 = £140,000
Knock off half the price, and let's optimistically say 99% of season ticket holders can now make it (holidays, work etc)
£10 x 9,900 = £99,000
That seems like a big financial hit in order to entice 2,900 people into the ground. Even if each of those 9,900 decide to buy a pint inside the ground because they've got an extra tenner, you're still ten grand down.
If you're going to do promotions, aim for the unlimited market (ie. non-season ticket holders). I think we did a decent job of this on FRiday because we were able to sell tickets early as we knew we would have a game. The online ticket cock-up didn't help though.

| Personally im sick of hearing season ticket holders bleating about paying extra for play-off games or any other games,im not a season ticket holder because my work makes it difficult to attend every game,SO ive always got to pay extra.people who have season tickets already get a discount why should they get more??? IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT GO.

| One home game for me used to cost close to a season ticket, no sympathy.

| Quote: Tin Soldier "Comparing the Play Off attendances against the equivalent SL fixtures.
Warrington V Huddersfield - 10006 v 10283 (-2.7%)
Disappointing considering that we were collecting the LL Shield.
Catalans V Hull KR - 8413 v 8252 (+1.9%)
Good effort especially as there would have been far fewer HKR fans at last nights game.
Wigan V Saints - 12893 v 24057 (-46.4%)
Is the fact that they could play each other again the main reason for a much lower turnout?
Leeds V Hull - 9075 v 14809 (-38.7%)
Overall (-29.6%)
So a bit of a mixed bag really. Had ticket prices been much more affordable (Especially for families) then could we have seen an overall increase? Are Wigan and Saints fans 'derbied out'? Why didn't Warrington fans fill the HJ to see their team collect their biggest (Or hardest to win if some people consider the CC to be a more prestigious trophy) trophy for donkeys years?'"
Revised with today's final attendances

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| Wolves attendance was down directly due to Huddersfields attendance. Under 500 compared to over 1000 for the league game.

Bizarre suggestion as an answer to a debate on how to increase attendances!

Didn't know it was that dear at Quins Yed? No wonder they don't get many.

| I'd be especially worried if i was a Leeds fan. That means only about 6,500 Leeds fans turned up.

46584_1279360105.jpg Warrington RLFC: The Wire, NOT Warrington Wolves

| Quote: Poyser11 "The worst case was the first year of the top 8 play-offs where Huddersfield and Hull KR finished 3rd and 4th, they seemed as though they expected to lose the first game anyway so didn't bother.'"
I think Huddersfield were like that on Friday. I didn't go to our home league game V them this year as I was away so I'm not sure how many they brought to that, but they definitely brought more to last year's play off which was a week two knock out match than this year's week one.
They knew they were likely to lose and were saving their money for next week's home game which is much bigger for them. I'm sure if they win and end up back at our place in week three they will bring far more then.
Saints V Wire last year was an anomaly because we were still so badly hoping to see the win that never came at Knowsley Road after all those years of hurt. If that match was played this year now "The Knowsley Road factor" is gone, I don't think it would attract the same size crowd, and the attendance at Wigan V Saints yesterday kind of proved the point.
Our attendance would have been four figures if we weren't receiving the LLS. Even with that it was poor. For people to get enthusiastic about games they need to mean something, and I think creating relatively meaningless games (yes I know they're worth winning for the week off and home advantage, but they aren't knock out) between the supposedly best four teams in the competition is by far the biggest flaw in the current system.
Wigan V Saints yesterday should have been a blockbuster - and it will be if its repeated in week three - but it wasn't because of the format. As an added problem, if it is a repeat fixture - albeit at another venue because of the result - in week three, too many games between the same teams leads to overkill, so playing each other two weeks previously won't help the attendance in that either.
Week one: 1 V 8, 2 V 7, 3 V 6, 4 V 5
Week two: Highest ranked winner V Lowest ranked winner, Rank two V Rank three
Grand Final
Yes, I know that's all reminiscent of the Premiership and the Grand Final is now supposed to be bigger, but at least every game would mean something, and there's still huge advantages to be gained from higher league position.

| Our attendance wasn't really 10006 though, was it? 9006 flashed up on the screen and then 10 minutes later it was 10006. I know which one I believe was the true figure.

They shouldn't IMO.
We already get discount for pre purchasing before early bird deadline day, discount for tickets compared to paying on day, free cup game and priority for any play off and cup games.
I'm happy to pay the going rate for the play off games.

| Let be honest, if the club were to offer discounted play-off tickets in the season ticket price it would all get averaged out when calcualting the price you pay. The result would be people will be whinging about it if the club only played in one...or god forbid No!.... home play-off games, People buy season tickets because it offers good value for money in their opinion as it currently stands. Extending the benefits to the play-offs will not make commercial sense to the club.

I thought it had said 9000, thought I needed my eyes testing. Probably fiddled the figure as it would've been our first attendance (for a SL game) below 10,000 this year.

| For this weeks games.
Wigan V Catalans. - SL game 13,134 (Some on the Wigan board are predicting 8,000! Surely not?)
Huddersfield V Leeds. - SL game 10,428 (Giants have some generous offers. Family of 4 from £30 and under 12's get in free)
So the fact that we're now into knock out territory should mean better attendances yeah?
