| I am into motorsport reference/ technical literature, so Moto gp technology and four stroke performance tuning are two informative books. Also i am a keen cyclist, lance armstrong autobiograpy is a pretty good read as are tour de france history books.

| I'm just reading the Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, which is the third of a trilogy.
Book 1 is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Book 2 is The Girl Who Played with Fire.
All fantastic reads.
Kris Radlinskis autobiography is also a very good read for any RL fan.

I read all three on holiday recently. Really enjoyed them. The books were published posthumously, so we won't be hearing any more from Lisbeth Salander.
I liked the bit right at the end of the third book, were she........
Only kidding.

| "My Bit: A Lancashire Fusilier at War" by George Ashurst .
This is the true story of a Wigan lad who fought in most of the major battles of the first world war. An amazing read.

| Quote: yam_yam "I'm currently reading Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Great fantasy book. Started reading it to coincide with the airing of the tv show. I personally feel it was about time the fantasy genre got more recognition (obviously excusing Lord of the rings).
My favourite books are those of David Gemmell - a fantastic heroic fantasy writer.
Everyone should read Joe Abercrombie. If Gemmell and R.R. Martin had a kid, that would be Abercrombie.'"
George R R Martin is a great shout, G, A Song of Ice and Fire - he's really paved the way for modern fantasy writing now. And Abercrombie is a delicious writer. Hugely influential the pair of them (and I speak from experience )

Quite a few people here seem to enjoy reading novels. But how many have ever read a novel that has a rugby league background and is set in a fictional town set five miles north of Warrington.
Details of my four novels which are all inspired by being a Rugby League fan and the old saying about work "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller" are given on my web site www.geofflee.net
And what am I reading? Have just started on "The Death of Marco Pantani" The Italian racing cyclist.

for any posters on here with youngsters who are having trouble sleeping, I can whole-heartedly recommend Iestyn Harris' autobiography...just a couple of pages, and the little mites will be in the land of nod.

| Quote: sally cinnamon "The book I always recommend is Birdsong by Sebastien Faulk. I don't read much fiction but I picked this up while travelling in a book swap thing in a hostel and I thought it was fantastic, very powerful and haunting storyline based around the trenches of World War I'"
Birdsong is one of the best I've ever read, an absolute masterpiece. Another classic set during WWI is Ernest Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms'.
Can recommend the last book I read as well for a piece of non-fiction. 'Gomorrah' by Roberto Saviano, which is about the extraordinary power and influence exerted by the Neopolitan Mafia.
Favourite novel of all time would probably be 'A Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez.
