Quote: Yed™ "Ok SEB, imagine Salford have their nice new stadium, have ticket prices of £10 for adults, how many fans do you think they'd get per game (excluding away fans)?
I can't see, even with a succesful club, Salford getting a regular crowd over 7k in the next 10 years.'"
How depressingly unambitious. Salford should be looking at getting at least a couple of sell-outs next year, with proper marketing and ticket offers.
From Salford's licence applicationThe extensive market research carried out in association with
Sportswise into the potential supporter increase is based on
what we can expect from within the confines of the city of
Salford and remains valid so is included within the submission
for a licence. This report was commissioned to support the
club’s planning enquiry and is recognised by professional disciplines
and approved by the Secretary of State
it is important to realise that
the Sportswise report highlights that we can expect to attract
an average of at least 8500 supporters in the first year drawing
solely from within the boundaries of the City of Salford which
has a population of 220,000 people.
This would be a return of just 4% from the club’s traditional
target market. When you consider that the population of the
Manchester region is in excess of 2.5 million, we need only
to attract a little over 0.1% of that extended market to take
our crowds beyond 12,500 (and indeed beyond the phase 1
capacity of the City of Salford Community Stadium).
Salford City Reds has recruited and trained an innovative,
talented, experienced and progressive off field team and they
will demonstrate their plans to aggressively market the club
into both new and traditional areas in the Marketing plan that
follows.
It is our firm assertion that this push, coupled with the
excitement of a new facility in a highly visible ‘dream location’
at the Western Gateway to the city will mean that these
number projections could well prove to be conservative and
our issues will quickly move from not generating large enough
attendances to chasing the second phase of the development
and increasing the stadium’s capacity to 20,000 as soon as is
possible.'"
