If he was on drugs, more fool him. He has done nothing to change the warped view of some people towards students.
However, before i heard he was on drugs i thought he had got swept up in the anger. It is human nature for a crowd to establish a leader. He was the general shouting his orders to his troops down below. As stupid as it sounds.

Shame if he get's done for it. He hasn't really done anything wrong minus being stupid.

He isn't confirmed to have been on drugs. He is a dosy rich spoilt twit.

Try explaining that logic to the millions of veterans and bereaved families who have lost loved ones since 1914.

Surely if he meant to do it it would be disrespectful. The insult only comes if it was intended.

I admit it was a stupid thing to do and i am sure him being apparently on drugs while he did is a slap in the face but you can't attack or hate a guy who is merely stupid.

I am want to stress though that what he did was stupid and i can see why people would get offended. I am lucky in that i don't think i have need to be offended. I would think if i was in another position i would have taken a less than logical approach

He has apologised. When that guy pished on the war memorial in Sheffield there was a mess and he apologised and it was forgotten.

i lost two friends in northen ireland whilst we were serving there and i find your comments disturbing. would you be so forgiving if god forbid he had come up and punched say your mum in the face then the following day he said "oh sorry i was high as a kite please forgive me"

That is a specious argument. The relationship between the two are miles apart.

also, I never condoned his actions for drug taking, it was his stupidity. He was oblivious to what he was climbing on.

If he punched my mum in the face by accident i would forgive him, yeah! but that doesn't add to the discussion at all.

People are very sensitive to this issue which is there right but I think that sometimes leads to an attitude of you either unreservedly condemn the individual or people get upset which makes discussion impossible. I think you raised some good points, the lads made a very stupid mistake (one which he will undoubtedly regret/be made to pay for, for a long time) but let's not paint him as a monster / equate it to physical assault.

Believable?! He is studying HISTORY at Cambridge and was privately educated. Of course he knew what it was! Idiots like him shouldn't be at university to clean the toilets, I really hope he loses his place which he evidently does not deserve.

I wasn't privately educated and I certainly have never been educated at Oxbridge. But, when I went to London i had to have it pointed out to me.

He is just unfortunete in that he decided to jump on that. If he had jumped on the victoria statue outside the palace. or on the lions at nelson's thing, no one would have cared. He was a stupid lad.

But why would he desecrate the dead. It wasn't the platform to do it. I'm sure he is very grateful of those that gave their life for freedom.
