| I didn't know that Rhys Evans had opted for England and I am a little bit disappointed about that. Not for him because it will give him more earning power throughout his career and the chance to play against the best in the world a bit more often (hopefully). I feel a bit sad for Wales RL as I had hoped that these sort of players could increase the standard of the welsh side and in turn raise the profile of RL in Wales. I would love him, Ben and Rhys Williams to become regulars in a successful wire team but I would not be too sad if one day they were pulling on a crusaders shirt if it meant that Crusaders became a team capable of winning silverware playing in a team full of Welshmen in front of big crowds.
A good win for Wales though

This is what was inevitably going to happen when they disbanded Great Britain and made England the prime team which went forwards against Australia, New Zealand etc. If any kid with talent does come out of Wales they will have to play for England just like Robert Croft did in the cricket.
It would have been far better to have kept it as Great Britain. All those guys like Jonathan Davies, Allan Bateman, Jon Devereux, were able to play for Wales in European Championships and World Cups and then play at the highest level with GB as well.....nowadays they would have to make a choice, play for Wales against Italy and Scotland, or play for England against the best...

Now that this government is dis-banding Sport England then there is no reason why it can't be Great Britain who competes in the four nations.
The question of securing funding will no longer be applicable as their will be no more central government funding for sports like rugby league once the government cuts are put in place.
