For goodness sake - can't you just accept a well balanced post?
Of course we all HOPED Warrington would win everything - is that not what every fan wants for their team? We didn't ASSUME. This is sport.
As to Wigan, well done. I personally finished the day thinking isnt it great the Wire and the Pies came up with the Silverware. A refreshing and hopefully long term change?

Who was this big name player, who was such a great influence that he single handedly gave the club a lift, and saved them from relegation?
This must have been a world class player and legendary figure in rugby league?

Relegate salary cap cheats ? Interesting theory because what you didn't point out was that five other clubs exceeded the salary cap ... you focused on Wigan. As a result six teams would have have been relegated that season if we followed your idea ... and if you follow this logic through then Saints, Wakefield and Hull would have been relegated two divisions for the repeat offences detailed in the article?
"It's worrying that half of this season's 12 Super League clubs did not stick to the salary cap last season – and three of those have previous Hull FC, St Helens and Wakefield"
Anyway have to go ... got a good DVD to watch .... with a happy ending

I think he meant that the ONLY reason wigan weren't relegated was because they cheated. I tend to agree with that opinion.

| Quote: sally cinnamon "Never thought I would say this after their excessive trophy hoarding in the 80s and 90s but its good to see the Wigan fans to get some silverware again after some dark times. I know there are a couple of internet idiots who post on here but I'm talking about most of the pie eaters
After Farrell left they had a bit of a nightmare, remember their first season under Millward when they got beat 75-0 at Saints and 70-0 at Leeds, then after getting that disaster season out of the way they had an even worse one where they were stuck at the bottom of the league and nearly relegated. Usually in any sport, when you have a once-great club fallen on hard times, their fans desert them, but Wigan improved their gates during these times, they had lost some disillusioned fans when they left Central Park and went to the JJB but it seemed like the tough times brought some Wiganers back to watching RL. I know we always made jokes about the Wigan walk but they stuck by them well through some dross which must have been heartbreaking for fans brought up on Hanley, Edwards and Bell.
Brian Noble, despite getting criticised every year, managed to get Wigan to final eliminators or Cup semi finals, in a transition era when he was trying to move out Maurice Lindsay's legacy of having paid over the odds for NRL players who were past their best, and bringing in young players from the Academy. Now Mick McGuire has come in and proved in one season he is a top drawer coach.
You have to take your hat off to them, they have been the best team all season, if we're honest nobody would have reckoned this time last year that the pies would win at Old Trafford.
With so many good young players the future looks bright now for Wigan, I doubt they will repeat the dominance of the 80s and 90s because the salary cap will start to bite on them when some of the younger players renegotiate their contracts as top players, and they will inevitably lose players down the line, but they can certainly be as successful as Leeds have been in the last six years.'"

well done to the lad its only taken him two years to get back to his early Wire form.....
which is two years quicker than the 4 it took Fielden to hit decent form....
still not good enough for England though but well done to fielden who does deserve his call up

Mate, with all due respect, don't talk garbage! Gleeson was quality from the moment he came, shored up the right side defence and finally gave us attacking options down both flanks instead of the predeominantly left sided attack we had prior to his coming. He's improved steadily since arriving and has hit top form this year. Do you think it's any coincidence that his wing partner, someone no-one on this board would have rated at the beginning of this season, has scored the better part of 30 tries this season?
By the way; how is your big money signing Myler doing? Is he enjoying life up in the stands watching Wire play? What about the guy who went the other way in the Gleeson signing? Glad to see he's become an integral part of your championship winning team as Gleeson has in ours...oh, wait a minute...

see you started out so well started by saying with all due respect ..then it went downhill for you talking utter arrogant rubbish....
we got rid of Gleeson and went to Wembley twice...now I know your history and your team used to love ...love.. going there, but now you treat it as a second rate competition becasue you cant win it..but dont be bitter over it.
the guy that came the other way in the deal helped knock your backsides out at the semi final stage last year and now has two Wembley winners medals and nearly got a Lance todd trophy he was that good this year.
the Centre we got in to replace Gleeson is currently Packing his bags for the four nations tour in Australia while Gleesons packing his rucksack for a weekend in his Caravan in Rhyll.
Bridgey would have likely been the other Centre but he turned it down.... so excuse me if we dont feel any kind of loss for Gleeson.
and i'm not overly impressed with Gouldings try (25 not 30 odd )tally its the same as Rileys who plays outside Atkins who apparantly never passes the ball, Chris Hicks scored 22 tries and he is older than Your grandad and plays outside a winger turned centre in Matt King.
what youve tried to do is make me be impressed by Martin Gleeson and Wigan.....
I'm more likely to be impressed by bags of Shopping my missus has brought home from Primark.

going off on a slight tangent here did anyone see the Keiron Cunningham interview after the Grand Final, he was asked if he could pick out one highlight of his career and he said for him Wembley has always been the biggest event, and the two highlights of his career were his first Wembley win in 1996 and going back and winning it as captain and lifting the cup in 2006.

| Hmmmmm this is unexpected, Wigan win the Super League and Wire fans start several threads saying how they would much prefer to win the challenge cup etc etc... Yawn. Come on guys the Super League is the ultimate Prize it is why teams play week in week out. Now well done on your Challenge Cup but bite your tongue and congratulate Wigan in going one step further. Out of interest I can only assume you will all be supporting Wigan against St George!!??
