Are you sure that is the best pack you can create? When did you start watching?
PS Jackson is listed at 11 and on the bench.

| Can't believe the great Duane Mann has only got 2 mentions so far (well done Pirate) and one of those was a sub. I was gutted when Duane left after 92/3. If he'd have stayed 1 more season, we'd have walked the league the following year, when we ended up finishing up on level points with Wigan/Bradford. Who did we have as hooker that season.....the legendary John Thursfield (...goes for a lie down in a darkened room, sobbing at the thought). IIRC, Duane was the club's top try scorer in his last season, not a bad achievement from hooker.
As for wingers, what a conundrum.
In my watching lifetime, I've had the pleasure to witness
John Bevan (my first sporting hero along with Ian Botham)
Dessie (he was playing for Leigh when I went to my first ever away game. The Leigh speccies would go beserk whenever he got the ball - frightening)
Fa'afili (never knock anyone that scores tries)
Hicks (an unbelievable finisher from within 10 yards of the line)
without even thinking about Henare and Penny (good luck for the future, Kev) who were both extremely entertaining.
As for second row, Mark Roberts gets in front of Les Davidson every time....test caps, SOO or not. What a devastating waste of such a brilliant talent. I was at the A team game when he made his comeback from injury...he limped ONTO the field. Don't think he ever played again
Full back...Brian Johnson, 10 times the player David Lyon ever was (sorry Lyon fans, and I like Lyon). Think Johnno only played 1 bad game for us, (v Wigan JPTrophy 85/6).
I'd be here all week regarding centres.
Even though we've won precious little over the last 30 years, we've been blessed with some FANTASTIC talent on our books.

I can't believe it myself....Mann was a world class hooker, arguably the best in the world at the time. And yes, if he had stayed an extra year then we would have cruised that title, as Thursfield was undoubtedly the weakest point of that side, which was carried massively by Jiffy. (How did a side with Teitzel at prop ever come so close to winning a title?).
Whilst Monaghan is a fine hooker, he is nowhere near what Mann was, both attacking and defensively.

I know what you mean, but it's a different game and far more structured now.
Defensively I think he may struggle but I know he always somehow seemed to come up with the goods in defence back in those days.
In attack - well awesome.
Remember the match against Saints when we were up 20-0 at half time and he was bombing Anthony Sullivan time and again giving Fozzie 3 tries. Amazing.
I'll never forget him virtually pushing Ellis out of the way to take up the no 6 position just so that he could bomb Sullivan again......and Fozzie scored again!!
Or against Fax in the cup when he scored 2 blinders (saw it on the Beeb).
Or against Keigthly when we played carp and we awful and he comes up with a totally off the cuff play to score - and we won with the last play of the game. On and on I could go!

| Jiffy is the type of player that is sadly lacking in our game today....All this talk of structures breaks my heart. O for the days when a Davies or a Jason Robinson would do something off the cuff and the hairs on the back of your neck would come up in anticipation.
Rugby League has gone the same way as Heavyweight boxing, prefering brawn over brains and dashing individualism.....Where is the next John Woods or Jiffy?

Take off the primrose & blue tinted glasses and see that there are two potential successors in Eastmond & Sam Tomkins. Not there yet but every chance to be in the next 5 years.

I agree that both these guys have huge potential....Eastmond, especially, reminds me of Jason Robinson in his running style. Tomkins has the daring to do the unpredictable, though I'm not sure he has the skills of a Davies or a Woods.
I just think in the modern game many coaches are scared to death to let their 'individuals' off the leash....Its obvious that the players still have the neccessary skills, just witness the semi final try against Catalans when Briers chips across field to Hicks (and on it went....) or last year, when Riley chipped over the Bulls defence for a length of the field try....It's just a shame that players only try these things when games are safely in the bag.
