| Never been to Leigh, but I imagine it's not the easiest place to get to.
I reckon they should have played this game in Wigan, and aimed for a massive crowd with cheap tickets. Either that or Warrington which has excellent rail links, so would enable more people to get home in time to watch the football.

| I'm going - Getting the bus from Warrington bus station and walking to the ground from Leigh bus station. Google maps reckons it takes about 15-20 minutes walking.
I'm looking forward to it - any idea on how many are going in general?

However, we don't have a car and rely on public transport - and the staduim is a complete 'mare to get to be it by train or bus. Over 2 hours each way!!
Shocking!!
Does anyone have any ideas???'"
Not sure where in Manchester you are but the X34 bus takes about 45 minutes M/cr to Leigh, and the 26 about an hour and a quarter. 10/15 minute walk from bus station to LSV.

| Leigh IS NOT a hard place to get to, the semi is approx 8 weeks away and shame on you who would rather watch wendy ball than the game we all claim to love. The tickets for the England game at Leigh we're only a tenner and its a 5 min walk to the stadium from the bus station. Theres about 20 pubs with the footie game on in Liegh aswell as the hotel at the ground,Id rather miss 20 mins of the overpaid and under worked game or watch the highlights than miss the chance of watching the real game. But we all have choices and thats what makes the world go round,as long as you enjoy the game (whatever 1 you watch) is all that counts.

I'd say slightly less than that unless you call in at the several pubs you'll pass , I've not googled it but walked it on several occasions, come out of bus station walk past the front of the Goose pub, and over the Bridge, take your second street on your right Etherstone Street, and just keep going as you reach the end you'll see the stadium over on your left, Leigh East is on your right if your thirsty again as its a good five minutes since you passed the last pub.

Thanks for that - it'll save the walk down atherleigh way that Google maps gave me. Some pubs along the way makes it even better!

Why Wigan? When England played Australia in the 4 nations at Wigan withgood priced tickets it was no where near full. Leigh has more pubs close to the ground and the town is a 5 min walk from the ground.LSV is a great stadium to host this game and is close to a sell out. This is not having a go but if you had been to Leigh you wouldnt be wanting it at Wigan

23,122 and they wernt cheap tickets, so I dont see your point. However I do think its right to play this game at Leigh, aiming for 10,000 is about right imo

Fair enough I see your point, I'm not the best to comment on Leigh having never been to the village.
Part of me though would like to see Rugby League grow into a sport that is capable of attracting at least 20,000 to a game like this, football or no football.

| Quote: DJ Birchy Ford Clinic "its a shame it clashes with the footy, unlike some on here i love England Football and the world cup is the best it can get so i will miss out on the trip to LSV. I found it a spot on ground when we played in the friendly apart from the dodgy foreigners not topping the beer up and then acting all dumb when i told them "top it up".'"
its a shame it clashes with sl games on this weekend also. should of bin no sl games this week. absolute joke.
we all know we gonna batter the frogs , so whats the point of it, 3 of our best players missing , gonna cost us 2 points, can see it coming, joke.

| Went to get my ticket from The LSV on Monday, he said that they have sold 600 tickets through the stadium and 6,000+ on the internet.
Leigh is easy to get to from Wazza, the 19 & 28A both run right through the night so you can stay about for the football.
I have watched two atches at the stadium and it is a quality ground.
