| I agree, it's only implied at the moment. If you look at RM's bio on twitter it reads "Its all about being the best dressed doll in the window", up until yesterday it read something along the lines of "Warrington Wolves Fullback".

| You are quite right.
Yes, all signs point to Hodgson signing which would surely come hand in hand with Mathers leaving.
However in a game like rugby league you are never more than one unlucky tackle away from a career ending injury (especially at his age), or even just deciding you have had enough at the end of the season (for example Stacey Jones).
I hope as a set of fans we are able to get behind Mathers, bring out his best form, and if it does prove to be his last season with us, give him a great send off.

| Tony Smith is not saying anything about all of this and i am sure he will let all who need to know when he thinks it is right. He will have a plan for Mathers . He hasnt played him for fun and i am sure he wont let him go without giving serious consideration for his future. Smith cares about his players and their future. Dont take it for granted that Richie is on his way.I have a feeling that Smith knew all this would break and speculation take over while he quietly and calmly gets on with his master plan.

I think this is more about him now being in the shop window and hoping to attract the interest of other clubs.

| It is a shame he isn't one of those players who cannot slot in genuinely effectively elsewhere e.g. Hicks and Riley wing to fullback or Matt King wing to centre.
I would love to see him stay.

| Suppose his Twitter page has helped people see more of the life of a Rugby League player, good and bad.
It seems the rumours are true, and we see the stories behind the gossip, and have to feel sorry for himin some degree.
However, maybe some of the more "obvious" tweets are not suitable for such a public place, after all, It was the club who encouraged him to start it.
Do wonder if he could ever fit in elsewhere, stand off?
End of day until they say differently, he is still a Wire player and will support him 100%.

| i was thinking about this the other day, the poor lad gets hammered every time he drops the ball, yet his form going forward has been good recently, you look at who slots in when briers and the like have been injured, hes been involved in a few of our trys recently if not scoring, then in the build up. if we assume that hicks is going, then we need someone to replace him, mathers may not be a natural winger, but we know for sure he has pace and he can break tackles, something some wingers struggle with. if we sign hodgson... he is our fullback, fine... but then we need to sign someone else to replace hicks. I think we should keep the boy on and move him out to replace hicks, i know it sounds stupid... but he is dedicated to the club, he loves playing for tony smith, and i think thats something that is hurting him the most, as well as being fobbed off by the club so early in the season... i think the club has handled things very harshly.... how can we expect him to put 100% in to everything knowing that the club arent really bothered! We are treating him the same way as wigan did, and thats horrible... its just a shame that a lad has obviously in less than a week gone from being fully commited and looking forward to the games every week, to down in the dumps! i for one will be cheering the lad on throughout the rest of his time with us.... and i plead for all of us wire fans to do the same... imagine if you were told you were working for your job, youd need all the support you could get... lets give it to the lad for giving us his all everytime he steps onto the pitch! MATHERS IS A WIRE ( long may it stay that way)!!

| Mathers isn't good enough. The majority of us know that and so does TS and Simon Moran. As a club, how have we rectified this? Sign the current MoS. It's a marker to exactly just how far we have progressed as a club since TS joined.
Mathers = Nice chap, good professional, average player = doesn't meet standard set. In years gone by we would have seen him signing a 4 year contract round about now and we'd all be up in arms
This is another major jigsaw piece. LF and a new prop for 2011 would complete the squad.

| No room for sentimentality in sport.
I don't doubt for a second that Richie will do the best he can do for aslong as he is a Warrington player. And that is all we can hope for, which is the same for any player.
