His best position is FB I reckon, but he is also a very good winger and can fill in at centre. Maybe Smith has realised Mathers doesn't look like getting back to being the player he was when he had him at Leeds.

Actually my smartbooty comment was more insensitive, The Sun is the gutter of newspapers, and the fact that everybody in Liverpool takes offence to mention of The Sun 21 years on, is showing solidarity with the families of the 96, which is good. So I think they are right that it's not the right subject material for banter, and I don't want to be making jokes about it, so I shouldn't have been trying to be smart above. Apologies to LFC fans, I should have thought of the wider context of The Sun before trying to be funny.

he seems to be under the impression that Penny is signing for widnes on a full time basis. He has agreed the salary details. Warrington have been waiting on Lee Smith's decision before allowing the deal to happen.

Lee smith has become very disillusioned with rugby union in such a short space of time. He has agreed to join warrington on the same pay that the departing penny was earning (as the salary cap is at its limit).. with an agreement to review it at the end of the season...
