Good to see someone who has the guts to be honest about it. Being from Warrington myself a lot of my mates are Warrington fans who went tonight. Most have text me telling me they're 'not too bothered' when deep down you can tell they are absolutely gutted.

| Silverwood didn't lose us the game, Eastmond did. His kicking from hand and his place kicking were tremendous. His try was the same as happened at the HJ last season when he ducked under two attempted tacklers and scooted off. It is called creativity, which we seemed to lack for most of the first half.
But back to Silverwood - during a Saints passing movement the ball went through the hands of the receiver and the player on his outside gathered it. It clearly went backwards, yet knock on was given.
Wire kicked through, or off, I can't remember, and a Saints player went to trap the ball with his foot. At which point the balll bounced up and hit his hand, and went forward. Silverwood indicated the ball had gone backwards. There were many puzzling decisions, but I am not blaming the loss on him.
I think Keith Senior was right and should have his money refunded by the RL.

| I don't think in 6 years of coming on here I've criticised a referee, but I'm going to now. If that puts me in the 'bad loser' bracket so be it, but I thought he was disgraceful last night, I really did.
I'm not overly fussed on the penalty count, at times decisions are made 80m away from me, so I can't really question if a Warrington player has got a hand in at the ruck when it's driving rain and it's that far away from me. What I would say, is that he was pretty bloody helpful to Saints (in the 1st half particular) everytime they were struggling to clear their lines.
What got me last night was him controlling the tempo of the game, if Saints looked tired (which they did at times) he'd take an age forming the scrum, then it would be fed & re-fed 3 times.
At times, he's looking right at a play, there was one in the scond half where Paul Wood was 'deemed' to have knocked on, when Silverwood was looking right at it, and it was a clear ball steal, clear as hell. He had a perfect view, yet gave the decision against us.
All the other SL refs have bad days, you come home scratching your head, but you feel they have integrity. I can't say that I feel that about him, at all.

| The fact that both sets of fans think he was biased against them shows what a reasonable game he had last night
He got some basic calls wrong but overall he was fair

| Spot on JWP.
I said exacly the same about the pressure relieving penalties saints got in that first half. There were a also couple of decisions that totally baffled me, the one where Riley and i think Meli went for the high kick to the corner, the ball went dead in goal and the linesman who was stood next to the play gave us a tap on the twenty but Silverwood gave the dropout ..
The other one was Gardner palming the ball dead in goal from a Myler kick.. we were building pressure and forced the repeat set only for silverwood to give saints the tap on the twenty.
He was very poor for both teams but well timed positional penalties hurt a hell of lot.
Saying all that though i think the conditions beat us more last night. yes i know they were the same for saints , but this year we have become an excellent offloading team and it just wasn't possible last night.

| silverwood was outstanding last night for saints. also that bit when meli hit the ball dead in the 'in goal area' and they ended up with a
20m restart. magic. he was fair overall but a couple of bad decisions seemed to wrongly change the momentum of the game.

| I'd forgotten about the drop-out/20m restart incident, that too was a shocker, over-ruling the linesman who was right next to the play is bad form when there is no screen to go to, these decisions are the reason that they are there on the night. The decision to give a penalty to Saints when no Wire player had been involved in the tackle was also baffling.
But my personal favourite of the night was when he managed to not wipe the tackle count after Pryce had picked up the ball and ran with it at least a few yards before it came free again and a Wire player picked it up.
The man was rubbish last night. That said mind, our kicking game was woeful and for maybe the first time in four games, we truly missed Briers. Whichever team came out on top last night deserved the win, we could not handle Eastmond at times and it showed in the final score.
Other than that, really proud the performance and the support last night, this season is still going to be a good one.

He was right about the tackle when Gidley stonked Gardner in mid-air. Our left side attack was in front of the kicker, Atkins (whose kick chase was fantastic all night) obviously didn't hear and by the time they collided, our players were 2/3 metres away at best.

| Can't blame the ref for the defeat, ten point difference and not one try coming from a controversial decision. A few from our mistakes maybe
Allright Silverwood is a poor ref, last night showed that up but why did he need to make us pack down twice at most if not all of the scrums that we had head and feed. Can't remember him doing that for Saints. Anyway we all know the team with head and feed get the ball so what was the point

| We should take control of the situation ourselves and not the give the ref any reason to make shocking decisions. It's up to us

| Didn't have too much of an issue with the ref tbh.
JWP makes a good point though about the tempo, especially about the slowing the game down. The scrum was a mess, and Saints were clearly playing the situation to slow it down when they were on the back foot.
Other than that, nothing to complain about.

| Silverwood made some poor calls for both sides. But the penalty count was 13-6 in our favour. I am not one for blaming the referees. However the game was ruined with Silverwood blowing his whistle at every slight niggle and the game never really flowed.

Is that stat right?
They got two penalties in the first two sets, and another two for the goals, so did they really only get another two? I don;t believe that.
