Agreed. He's prone to an error everyweek, an error that costs us. Although he's very vocal i cant remember him puting his body on the line like most full backs do and even Riley.

Should of stuck with the same side as last week. But cant fault the effort though and i dont think Tony will let us have the usual after saints slump either.

Lets put it behind us, losing to only wigan and saints isnt bad at all so far and with two SL home games coming up, we should hopefully we can get back to winning ways

Really gutted. There were a things which could have gone better at full back but i thought we were unlucky tonight. i say unlucky but for me we seemed to control
most of the game and still lost. our passing and moves were miles better. morley was excellent though hard to see the game properly cos our shirts seemed
to blend in with the grass + rain and being a glasses wearer it was hard to see things in more detail. on another day we would have won- same against wigan.
the future is still very bright. it's only 7 games in. COME ON WIRE..

I don't get how Mathers gets such a bagging when he's far better than what we had in the past.

Stuart Reardon was rank average which was a shame because he was a good player at Bradford.
Ditto Cardiss and Halifax.
Leon Felton and Michael Watts were hardly world beaters.
Lee Penny, people were kind to him because he was an earnest trier but he was always about 10th/11th best fullback in the league.

Mathers is a good player with a fighting attitude who had a bad run with injuries and confidence and is coming back out of that....when he was at Leeds there was none of this business about him being a liability making errors, neither was there when he was a superb teenager on loan with us in 2002.

There always has to be a scapegoat.

Higham was our best hooker again this week, and IMHO was the best hooker on the field tonight amongst 4 top hookers.

Has Monaghans form dipped a touch?

I say that because it must have for Higham to reach a level above him. If Monaghan is playing aswell now as he did in those first few games of the season(especially against us) then Higham must have reached career best form.

Higham has always played at a consistently high level for us. Monaghan can be absolutely brilliant, but he also has far too many brain farts for me. Tonight his passing game was poor, his kicking was average at best, and he gave a shocking offload a yard from Saints line which turned the ball over.

Monaghan's best is better than Higham's best, and tbh probably better than most 9's in SL, but his average games can be way below many of the others we talk about.
