No just buy snow tyres like most other European countries.. I have not been stuck yet.
Leave them on all year good in the dry wet & brilliant in the snow
Global warming get used to it

4729_1341555985.jpg I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_4729.jpg |

| Snowed in yesterday, live on a hill and can't get the car out of the drive.
Even if I could the roads outside are full of abandoned cars.
I know this cos I went out and checked last night, falling on my booty several times.
So off yesterday and today.

| I'm sorry but all of this "cant get to work/staying in bed/not even going to try to get to work" talk makes my blood boil!
I live in South Warrington....but I run a business in Preston. Yesterday I left from home at 6.15am for a journey that normally takes me around 45 mins (I normally leave at 6.30am to be here for 7.15 even though we don't technically open for business until 9.00) because I knew that the conditions would be bad. I arrived at work 3 hours later at 9.15 am.
This morning I left home at 5.45am and arrived in Preston at 7.05am.
If I can make it from South Warrington to Preston in an hour I'm pretty sure that people who have a far shorter commute to work can do the same....it's pretty simple really - just get your lazy backsides out of bed earlier!!!

I completely agree mate I've lived in the french alps for years in winter I don't stay in doors and say the roads are to bad you've got to get out like any other day get to work. And anyone who has been to the alps in winter will know what I'm on about.
I do have snow tyres and I'm in warrington at the moment its not that bad

well done and I am glad you got their safely unlike many people who crashed cars or overturned lorrys. The roads were not safe for driving and sometimes you have to think about number 1, i would prefer to be off work for a couple of days unpaid than to risk my life slipping and sliding all over the roads. I drove from Padgate to Woolston yesterday morning to drop my little un off before work and it was the most horrible drive i have ever done in my 17 years of driving. Having then got stuck in the middle of my mum's road i decided that it would be safer and more sensible to stay in Woolston for most of the day.

i live near woolston park and the lane i live on is still really bad, yesterday i saw three cars spin out of control and mount the pavement,it really isn't worth venturing out unless it is a necessity and some of these nuggets out there need to realise that 20 mph on compacted snow isn't a match made in heaven.

| It's just macho posturing. Of course, it's bloody dangerous. That's why the Ambulance Service were only responding to life-threatening incidents yesterday. If Kol and Pug want to risk their own lives, then go ahead, I hope they don't kill someone else in the process.
Oh, and global warming/climate change is not the same as weather.

All that effort and by 10.00am you're sat at work (in Preston we note) surfing the internet.
Its people like you that are keeping this country going, well done.

yeah its not been great round there for a few weeks, my dad slipping on the ice rink that was on boxing day and broke his arm. it took me 10 mins to get away from there yesterday and then 25 mins to get to Padgate as i had to give the end of Green Lane a miss as cars could not get up the hill, had to go home via Manchester Road & then turn at the Highwayman (well what is left of it)
