100% agreed, there was a freeze frame on sky which showed the ball at the point of contact with McGuire's foot (through the Saints players legs) and both of Smith's feet were level with the ball therefore he wa onside, Smith was leaning forward which was deceptive

| Onside by far.
Who cares anyway, saints lost and thats all thats matters!!
How about Ganson going to the screen for EVERY try, make a f'in decision!! He was shocking last night. Was not a high tackle from Burrow which gave saints the two points to get the lead, he clearly hit his shoulders first! and in the first half when Senior had a brainfart and another player then threw it, a Saints player hit it and it went about 4 metres forward into Longs arms, Ganson said play on.

| Onside for me. His feet were level with McGuire's leading leg
I also thought that Eastmond's try was a knock-on and Burrows "high" tackle hit the shoulder first.

What? You wouldn't be saying that if it were Warrington in the final.

| Was clearly offside, but wouldn't have affected the end result - thats what you get for taking the two so early on

| When I first saw the try I was convinced he was the proverbial miles off side. But watching it again, I think it would have been harsh to say he was offside. He was either level with, or just behind, the kicker.
Had there been no VR, I am sure he would have been called back for offside.

| Offside. What's the point of having video refs if they can't make the right decisions?

This is my interpretation. Although if the rule is behind the ball, he was offside, but my centimeters only.
The fact that the ball was mostly covered by the Saints player, benefit of the doubt must surely creep into the fold and I believe that was why the try was given.

| It doesn't matter now but he was offside. You can tell that by Cummings response to it. He doesn't 'prove' it was the right decision, just says he is happy with the reasons for it. Bentham is convinced he was behind. I've been over the Sky footage and at no point with the ball in contact with the foot is Smith behind, he's at least level, which is offside.
Cummings backs this up with his comment about how the rail camera was ahead of the play and therefore warped the angle. They used the angle with a Saints player blocking the Smith to justify it, but it was never a try.
The proof for me is the utter surprise on the Leeds players' faces when it's given.
