| Smith did bring in Carney, so he clearly thought we had a weakness on the wing.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Riley's improved performances this year, but can't shake the feeling that he doesn't really scare the opposition.

| Riley is one of my favourate players but he is by no means the finished article. i.e, Running into Mathers, poor tackle on Cudjoe which meant Mathers had to commit. A couple of times he could have chose to catch a kick to diffuse it but tipped the ball out (probably good decisions though). I would like to see him playing next year but accept that there are better players (but please not Meli)

| Ive been impressed with Riley this year, i was one of those who said he would never make it and he proved me wrong... still a few handling errors that need to be ironed out but a very solid winger when called upon.

| John Kear felt he was unlucky not to win the Lance Todd.
He was excellent on Saturday.

| I'd love to see him at Saints any day! Class act and only going to get better. Would be criminal of Wire to overlook him for a big name!
Better than the two clowns we have on the wing!!!

I thought both those mistakes were down to Mathers. Mathers was committed to Cudjoe before Riley touched him. Poor call not trusting Riley, who did well to show him the outside, and then would have got him into touch, which is why Cudjoe had to pass back on the inside. Mathers barely lays a finger on him.
The second one was from a tiered Mathers, watch how slow he gets back. Was a bit silly from Riley, but think he was looking at their defenders, not were Mathers was meandering to.
He is Warrington's most underrated player IMO. The decisions to tip the ball out show what an excellent rugby brain he has. Imagine if Fa'afili had done that?
Loved the back three on Saturday. Finally a specialised full back, and two wingers with experience playing there, meant their kicking game was crap. I thought we were positionaly excellent in that respect, and started most of our sets outside the thirty, and dominated field position for long periods.

Don't think so. Have you read Carney's player profiles he did for the BBC prior to the Cup Final. Smith adores King and the feeling is mutual. They go back a very long time by all accounts. The only king on his way to saints is Jo....

| Quote: SaintsFan "Saints fan barging in here but I've noticed Riley whenever I've watched your guys play and not only do I think it would be a damn shame if he didn't have a first team spot next season but also I think it would be a damn shame if he wasn't picked for wing for England in the Four Nations. The lad has a rugby brain, has pace, is not afraid to tackle (in spite of his relative lack of bulk) and loves to aim for the line either on the outside or the inside, whichever is available. I hope Smith picks him for England because he really deserves international honours IMO.'"
Seem to remember saying the same thing myself after the final. Definately deserves it.

| Hmmm, I like him, but International standard, not for me. (...yet anyhow)
I think your Fox, Hall, maybe Hodgson deserve their shots first.
I'm happy that he's a developing SL player, who'll get better & better and I'm delighted we have him like.
Nice to see him getting some plaudits anyhow, he's won us all over.

| First team spot for sure. Riley was magnificent at Wembley. His positioning was great, his running was strong. Can't really comment on defence as Hudds never really threatened his wing much. He's never let you down though, and clearly wants it.
You have a good lad, there.
