| he's right both samples are taken at the same time, one sample (b) is saved for the eventuality the a sample is positive.
there would be no pint in testing him now, even hock wouldn't use prior to a retest, that way all drug cheats would get cleared on second test!

| Quote: FuturoChampioni "Wrong again - Both samples are taken at the same time, and the B Sample is subject to a more thorough analysis, taking a period of 2 weeks. Therefore has been tested since it was submitted, with the findings complete yesterday.
Get your facts right sunshine.
To the guy how asked about if the results are usually the same he is right, Hock will get his ban.

| Quote: Dave T "Any proof that your post contains the facts, as pretty much all the Wigan fans are statng that the test on the B sample was only carried out on the 30th, not the results due.'"
No, FC is right both samples are taken at the same time.
if they took the B sample on the 30th it would almost certainly show up as negative because any substance that was in the body at the time of the A sample would have been eliminated by the body within a certain short time period.

No, the point I was making was that the test on the B Sample (which was taken at the same time as the A Sample) was only carried out on the 30th.
I never suggested that a new sample was taken from his body on the 30th.
This is the general concensus on the Wigan board.

| Hope this clears thing up, taken from the Wigan board
This is theUK Sports drugs policy:
When called for a drugs test the athlete is entitled to have a representative (such as their coach or team doctor) present to verify that the testing occurred in accordance to guidelines. A sample is provided (in view of an official of the same gender) and split into two bottles and sealed by the athlete. A code number will be attached to the bottle and recorded on the relevant paperwork to ensure the correct result is given to the athlete whilst retaining their anonymity.
Following the sampling procedure the athlete must complete a medical declaration which states all medicines, drugs and substances taken over the last week. It is important that the athlete records everything, from over-the-counter medicines, to supplements and prescribed drugs. If any of these substances are on the prohibited list the athlete must hold a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). The competitor, representative and official all check the form before the official and athlete sign it and both parties are given a copy.
The samples are then sent to a registered laboratory (if there is not one on site) where sample A is tested using gas chromatography (which uses separation techniques to divide the contents of the sample) and mass spectrometry (which provides the exact molecular specification of the compounds). If a positive result is found with sample A, the athlete is notified before sample B is also tested. The athlete or their representative is entitled to be present at the unsealing and testing of the second sample. If this too is positive, the relevant sporting organisations are notified whose responsibility it is to decide what penalties or bans are to be imposed'.
Note the bit in bold. Before the second sample is tested the athlete is notified so this is only opened and tested after the notification. The official press release says Wigan were notified on 22nd June.
My understanind is that the 2nd sample was opened and tested on 30th June, results to follow.

so did i, it's just the pies grasping at straws they think the testers take sample B a week or so after they've informed the player he's had a poitive A sample.
thus giving him time to provide a negative sample for retest

| Just been 'catching up' my Rugby League Extra listening and on last weeks show (26th June) Craig Spence from the RFL said that the B sample would be tested on the 30th June with the results due a week later after which Hock will attend a hearing for sentencing.
