| i guess its 3 forward and 2 back but at least we are making progress. Not until TS has had the chance to bring in players to fill the positions where he thinks we are weak will we get a true reflection of where we are. After all, he is working with another coaches squad.
I would think that if we made the play offs from where we are now then we would all be happy. A cup run would be a bonus.
We all have our own views about who should come and go - let's wait until season end and see if what TS does corresponds with what we would like to see happen

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

| Quote: sally cinnamon "Smith's also got the fans onside at the moment with all this Smith revolution, Che Smith stuff, I reckon he's got a few more months of that before he starts to lose favour and the first Smith out brigade emerges on the forum. At Leeds they started in his third season but that was because they won Super League and the World Club Challenge and got to two finals in his second year delaying the critics.
Nobody has been talking about the World Cup recently and how it was supposedly Smith's fault that we lost to the Aussies and Kiwis because the Saints and Leeds players didn't talk to each other in the dinner queue or something.'"
I don't think patience will run out for a long time yet. Most people, well those who's knee joints don't go beyond the vertical, appreciate we are a work in progress, regardless of what our squad has achieved previously.
The World Cup was a major disappointment, but I would like to think Smith learnt a hell of a lot about bringing warious factions together, I would go as far to say I will stand us, as a club in good stead.

Quite right, and it says alot about our change in fortune as i was totally gutted we lost! Rather than a few months it would have been "oh typical" and "not again" or even "Oh well, always next year "

I agree. I think the honeymoon period will last at least 1/4 of the way through the 2010 season when expectation will be sky high, with good reason too.

| No complaints from me! As most people have pointed out, steady progress can be seen, things are being shaken up etc.
Considering my gloomy outlook 2 games in, I'm much cheerier about the season now!

| All going very well in my opinion. Compared to where we were at the end of last season/start of this everyone appears to be improving as individuals and massive improvements as a team.

If we make the playoffs from where we are now, then I'm sure we'll be the team that nobody wants to play.

I never understood how so many people drew so many conclusions about Tony Smith as a coach from the World Cup, which is basically four games. He can do it at club level but not at international level.....he let the Leeds and Saints players divide into factions....his selection was poor choosing the same old tried and tested faces. Why then is it not reasonable to draw conclusions about Smith as a coach over TEN games at Warrington?
His record, lets be honest, at Warrington, is hardly ripping up trees, with recent defeats to Salford, Castleford, Hull KR...? Could it be that Smith can't solve the divided dressing room problems at the club, and that there is a split between the Aussie players and the British players? Is it that Smith is a good coach at a Yorkshire club, but he can't transfer it to a Lancashire club (he wouldn't be the first - Noble has struggled with the same transition).
If Smith's such a good coach I'll challenge him to this. Give me a week in camp with the Kangaroos and give him a week with his England team and I reckon my boys can beat him in a one off Test. Smith will get his team selection and tactics wrong but I won't, I'll show the 'Roos a few videos of England performances and I'll pick their weaknesses out wide apart, we'll rip them up in the outside backs.

You are preaching to the converted, I can't see us getting remotely close to the Australians, or NZ for that matter. Aus could go into a Test series without a coach and still win.

| Ive said previously that Tony Smith will need a minimum of 3 years to shape his own team, their will be players that are under contract who he may want to release but his hands could be tied for a while.
Ive seen progress already, i expect a lot more ups and downs before we become a team thats a force on the field and not on paper like its been in the past.

Black Backgrounds/Animal.gif To some greatness comes naturally
In Smith we trust:Black Backgrounds/Animal.gif |

| I believe, given the time to change things we will things at Warrington. You can see now some of our handling has improved and like likes of King, Monaghan, Briers etc are playing as well as the ever have or in LB's case in a long time. Smith has a nice likeable approach and the fans can see what he is doing and the majority understand that it takes time. Rome wasn't built in a day (but Tony Smith was not on that job)
