RIP 96 brave souls who lost there lives JFT 96

Watching it all unfold on the TV & hoping the an ex schoolmate of mine Ian 'Ronnie' Whelan wasn't caught up in it all but sadly he was. RIP.

I still visit the lads' grave as he's buried near my father.

I was at work and first we heard there was a problem on the radio, then we put the tv on and watched it unfold. A collegue was in bits as her sons were there and she didn't know if they were okay. We sent her home. I have relatives who follow the team but wasn't sure if they were there or not - lots of phone calls and not much work done that day. Thankfully our loved ones survived, but still feel the shock and pain for those who didn't.

I was only 6 at the time, but still vividly remember watching the scenes unfold on TV praying that my uncles who were at the game would be alright.

Thankfully they were, but 96 others were not so lucky. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims at this time.

RIP. Justice for the 96.

As someone who was at the game and caught in the crush outside the gates it's obviously a day I'll never forget.

Rest in Peace those who will never be forgotten.

I lost a good mate at Hillsborough, to him and all the other 95, Rest in Peace. An awful tragedy, that must never happen again.

Good on you mate. He was a great lad wasn't he? - he's sorely missed to this day. I shall be visiting Fox Covert very soon to pay my respects.

Justice for the 96 - YNWA

I was only a kid when it happened, I remember it happening but obviosuly the magnitude of it didn't hit home if you get me.

I must admit, I've welled up a few times today listening to folk caught up in it talking about it. As much as I try to think what it must have been like to be caught up in it, I don't think my mind can comprehend the sheer panic that those people must have been going through.

It makes me feel numb that 96 people left their homes that day to go and watch the team that they love, Mums, Dads, Kids, just as we do every week, yet they never returned home & never got to see them again. I find the whole thing very humbling & it's a great persepctive to our own personal plights.

Thanks to you all for your thoughts regarding this matter. Can know respectfully request that this post be closed, however the memory of what took place will live with us all for the rest of our lives?

I listened to a piece on the Radio tonight driving home and 1 part of it struck me. It was the mum who lost the 2 girls that was talking and she had gone through how she had gone to the hospital and identified the girls and then she talked about the journey back to the hotel in London and how she kept staring into the back of the car and 1 line cut me up.

'Here we where driving back as just a couple yet we had left home that morning as a family'

I just can't comprehend going through the same thing and having to deal with all the emotions and grief that go along with that, just how did / do they cope?
