| Quote: wire 74 "Or is it just the fact that a lot of supporters are demoralized but also realise that Gleeson showed no sign of the form he played for GB or Saints at any time in his stint at the wire. I think it is a good deal to get rid of a player who doesn't want to play for us and get some cash at the same time and free up enough cap space to bring in 2 centres hopefully ,I just wish they had lined up the replacements 1st .'"
As highly as I rate the player when he is on form, he never performed anywhere near his best playing for us after 2005. But he showed he was still one of England's best three quarters in the World Cup so in that sense getting rid of him is a bad move.
Would be interesting if TS picked Gleeson for England in July.

1. He was going anyway
2. He's a shadow of the player he used to be
3. He's a sulker
4. He likes his liquid (interpret that as you like)
5. He's selfish (someone explain the concept of a winger to him)
6. We are a team on the up and you over the past couple of season are going the other way
Wigan
guess what?
we don't care!
read TS's statement "committed players only"'"
As much as I share your sentiments 1-5, we have to concede surely that Wigan, over the last 3 seasons, have progressed 8th-6th-4th in the league final positions, whilst we have not shown any progression. So not sure how we can argue that we are a "team on the up".
Also, I believe points 2 through 4 apply to Mr Briers also.

There hasn't been many players making the transfer from Warrington to Wigan. I am struggling to think of any.

Billy McGinty, Neil Courtney, Brian Case, Ian Potter, Martin Crompton are all recent examples that spring to mind.

Well that helps with what I was thinking. They are all more than ten years ago or more and none of them are in the Andy Gregory or Martin Gleeson class.
Although thinking about it the flow of players from Wigan to Warrington has hardly been sparkling either.

Kieth Holden was an absolutely brillaint player for us whose career was sadly ruined by a pot-hole on a joke of a Station Road pitch.

| Andy Gregory was sensational for Warrington. I wouldn't put him down as an under-performer who starred for Wigan.
David Myers (RIP) would be the classic example for me - we played him at prop and he moved to Wigan and became an international winger.

Wrong that Fieldhouse, Case and Potter are not in the Gleeson/ Gregory class? Don't think so. And those mentioned were all at least twelve years ago or more.
You seem to forget that they won 'everything' because they were the only full time team at that time.
Selling Gleeson will not bite us in the backside. This could be the start of players at the club being professional, treating the club with respect and being a TEAM for the first time in living memory.
