Darlings of Super League: |
|
| Quote: Harrigan "You will see why on Saturday, and it's nothing to do with us winning or losing. I have never been emotional after winning or losing a challenge cup final and I have seen Leeds do both. The 1st time Leeds won at OT was the 1st and only time I have ever felt emotional at a sporting event and had to really choke back the tears. Also, the year after when we lost to the Bulls was the most gutted I have ever felt after a game of RL. To me its about the comp, and to be classed as Champions is the best feeling (sporting wise) ever. The atmosphere at OT is unbelievable and when both teams come out of that corner, side by side, with the fireworks going off around them and 70000 people on their feet aroud them you will know what I am on about.'"
Strangely enough I've been to about five Grand Finals. I know it's a great event and each time I've been I've had the hairs on my neck standing up thinking what it would be like if Warrington were coming out of that tunnel.
But likewise, I'm aware of your NRL fanboy agenda to diminish the Challenge Cup from previous posts, and I don't appreciate it. Winning at Wembley is quite an amazing experience and the history and traditions are quite brilliant.

I'm as reunited as I ever want to be mate! It's been a long time since I heard from you Graham. Your daughter must be in senior school by now? Where do the years go? Mine are both at L'pool Uni, the lad is doing his Phd, my daughter has just started her masters and we moved back to Liverpool just over two years ago.
Have a great time on Saturday and let's have that pot back in Lancashire (never mind Cheshire, the Tory gets!) where it belongs.

I honestly have no agenda whatsoever. It is a personal thing. I never came on here with the aim to belittle your achievements in the Cup over the last few years. I came on here to with the sole intention to wish you guys good luck and savor the atmosphere, because its the best club game atmosphere in the world as far as RL goes.

| The last time I saw Warrington play in a Final was in the double year of 1954. Attended the Challenge Cup replay win at Odsal after also being at Wembley. Went to all Wembley finals from 1950 until I left the Uk in 1966. Warrington won in the 1950 match too.
My favourite all time player is Brian Bevan who I first saw when Warrington hammered my team Hull FC. in the late 40's. That team also included Gerry Helme, Harry Bath and Roy Francis who shortly after went to Hull to become my favourite Hull FC player/coach.
Hope you triumph in a great game!

Wilderspool has always been south of the Mersey, therefore Warrington RLFC has always been a Cheshire club based on the traditional Lancashire-Cheshire boundary...
However, it is true that traditionally most of the fans come from across the river to the North.
I'm Cheshire-born and bred and not ashamed to admit it... And I support a club originating in Cheshire since 1789-ish.
