Ask Live Wired, that's when he's finished having a dig at a site sponsor first.

I would bet against it. Myler is pure class throughout.
Can lead when Lee isn't there
Can score as scoring in Oscars
Quick and elusive
Blooded.
It will be Lee and Myler
Then Lee/ Gaz and Myler
Gaz and Myler
OR Lee and Mylerx2
Unnamed money signing and Myler
Gaz and Myler
each year

He seems a very different type of player from Myler. Myler is excellent at supporting the playmakers like Briers. I see O'Brien in more of a Briers type role, organising and taking control of the kicking game. I think Myler is a great halfback partner to Briers because there's a lot of creative play coming from Hodgson, Briers and Monas and it's important to have somebody who can read the game and finish these moves off. Myler's done that very well this year.

| maybe so, but if o brien can do the myler stuff, and do some of the briers stuff as well, as everyone seems to be expecting from myler, he could make himself a fixture in the team.

Maybe, but look at what happened to Evans. He didn't do anything wrong, but is currently playing for Leigh on dual reg. As has already been mentioned, TS seems keen on developing these young players slowly instead of just shoving them in the first team and leaving them there. For that reason, I'd be surprised if O'Brien becomes a regular fixture in the team this year unless we get a bad run of injuries.

| O'Brien usually plays stand off for the U20's though, so I'd see him as a possible long term replacement for Briers. He's only 19 so plenty of time for him.
Fantastic goal kicker as well for when we no longer have Brett.

| Long term replacement for Briers is a big ask. We would need to get an older experienced stand-off to do a couple of seasons at least while O'Brien was on the fringes of the team to see if he is up to it. Many players have made an encouraging start only to get found out, if its a winger it's not too much of a disaster but if you've gone into the season with a young lad as first choice stand-off and he doesn't make it, it's effectively season over.
This is what happened to us in 2007 when we went in to give Bridge his shot as first choice stand-off, he wasn't really the answer, and that was our season done for, we ended up with Clarke in the halves for half the season.

| He is a good prospect but he isn't and probably will never be another Lee Briers. Briers was further on with his development at that age and is (as it has been proven since) a once in a lifetime player. I wouldn't wish it on any player to step into the boots of Lee Briers, virtually impossible task.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

His retirement will be create an expensive problem.

| I am dreading the day. Mind you he is playing as well as ever and has even added more to this game this season, evergreen.

| Don't post very often, but I can tell you that Gareth O'Brien is a very special player in the same way that Briers is. I coached him when he was 10 years old for Warrington Schools and his ability to read the game, learn and replicate moves after seeing something once blew me away even at such a young age.
Listen to Brier's interview at the end of the game last night - he knows the kid has what it takes if they handle him correctly. I for one was very proud to see him out there last night.

| Briers signed for Warrington when he was 19 for £65,000 and was recognised at the time for his potential and has since been probably the most consistently good halfback in the British game since that point. It is unfair to expect anyone, least of all a young player who has just made his debut, to try and fill that role. Give him some time to develop into a player in his own right without piling all this pressure on.

You're right - it was King's 'walk-in' try that came from an O'Brien - Hodgson passing set. The pass was still most excellent, though.
