| Given a decent halfback pairing who click with the forwards, we may well see a different effort in front of the sticks and the metres forward will also improve. Clearly on first impressions Cox is no world beater, but with him on a 12 month deal and Harrison on 12 months injury enforced sabbatical I guess all could go well. However, it could fall down if Cox gets injured, ill, poor discipline or just doesn't do it as appears to be the main comments elsewhere. He has a chance at a club that is as well equipped for success as any other in the league and he has to grab it.

| "seeming lack of ambition" how can you say that when the wanted list was Thurston, Burgess, Cronk, Hargreaves, Bromich, Graham, Tomkins, Ingliss and Cox.
The only one available was Cox !!!!!. We have ambition but as Mummy would have said "You cant always have what you want".

| i don't think anyone can accuse the club of lacking ambition... It seems to me that its the exact opposite...... Its has invested heavily in facilities, team and management over the last few years.
You can make some accusations at lazy recruitment and recruiting in the wrong areas....Which the club now seem to be in the process of fixing.
lacking ambition though? come on.. please.

| i think they're doing it on purpose, antagonizing certain sections of fans, stayaways, grumpy s however you want to label them, for some people though, they just can't do anything right no matter what. Using the slightest of issues to justify staying away or persistantly moaning.
We all know someone thats like this.

| Quote: Paul Youane "Warrington made the third most metres in Super League last season and the most metres per carry in the league. That would seem to suggest go forward was not the issue.
Perhaps 10th for clean breaks might have an ambitious club looking to recruit halfbacks, like Sandow and Gidley for example.'"
Naughty . You know Metres and AG includes all players not just the pack and will distort the facts. After Hill, Stefan Ratchford made our most metres. 7 of the top 10 AG for Wire were backs.
I think the problematic stat is Tackle Busts at 6th in the league and below all of our rivals. At times we looked like we could not burst out of a paper bag when we needed to and were easily contained. Hull KR CCSF game especially.
I will concede though that we looked equally poor on the opposition 30m line too in terms of creativity and a new halfback pairing was a must.

Do you honestly believe England is better than Cox?
Anyway my gripe with the whinging spoilt schoolgirl contingent is the accusation of lack of ambition.'"
I agree with you, I don't believe England is any better than Cox. But it still doesn't mean I'm happy we've signed him. We've swapped an average player with a spitting problem for a player who might be good with an attitude problem, that by his own admission needs to grow up.

| Well, I said we should never have let Roy Asotasi go. A big experienced prop that never got injured and hardy missed a game. Where are all those detractors now ?

| Did Cox play against us 2/3 seasons ago scoring a try? unless my memory is playing tricks he had a decent game and was a bit of a handful.
Best of luck to the lad he seems to be in the right frame of mind now and is intent on doing well.

He sure did. Round 22 of the 2013 season, he scored KR's only try in a 34-6 home win for the Wire.

| He's a big unit, Dodds is a big unit, Hill is a big unit, sims is a biggish unit. Having a proper look at our forward pack and we have some proper solid grafters. Get these guys firing and throw in the speed and power of our new back row and we'll cause some damage. Get Harrison back in the fold plus Westwood and we don't have a weak pack at all. Add our back line we're looking good, I think because we haven't signed a big named forward I was hoping for I think I felt let down. But looking at our squad we're a lot better off then we were last year, the players we let go weren't world beaters so I'm gonna shut up and see what the new team can do.

Hi Morley's deckchair
I sense this is the appropriate time to resurrect the Sam Burgess thread from a few weeks ago....?

out of those the only one we officially "made an enquiry about" was Sam Tomkins. Seriously when have we been in for Thurston or Inglis to name just two off that list
you can add Jacob Lillyman to that wanted list as well but again that was just a rumour.
So other than Tomkins the only real and non fantasy player we were interested in was Ukuma Ta'ai...he's not on that list and he opted for Huddersfield
its not lack of ambition (proof in Sandow Lineham & Westerman) to me its more like bad planning...
the Guardian headline was "Wire still in the hunt for Overseas prop" ...and we signed Jordan Cox.........crossing the humber???? I'm not sure technically that's overseas.
Dodds has had huge injuries, has already spoke of getting back to the NRL as fast as he can, and is injured for the start of the season ....
Its not Rocket Science to expect someone a bit better than Cox if we were looking overseas...
