| Ps this forum has hit new heights with John Deere tractor references!
So don't come back at me with any Massey Ferguson nonsense or (as the youngsters say) we will have beef.

I agree on Powell despite the marketing potential of the team coming out to Dick Van Dyke's "Put on a Happy Face"

| Powell was not mentioned anywhere within the lyrics of Ian Dury's Reasons to be Cheerful.

Next season to replace Price when he goes back home.

| Perhaps Powell would be a bit more cheerful living on the right side of the Pennines.

| I'd take Powell. He's improved all the clubs at which he has coached. He had Cas playing similar style of destructive rugby to what we had in the early days for TS without anything like the big names that we had. Even though they've plateaued a bit last couple of years, his record at Cas has been far better than that of his predecessors.
All this stuff about him moaning will soon be forgotten if he becomes Wire coach, because when he moans about us getting ripped off by bad decisions from refs we will agree with him and say about time someone called out the RFL for this.
If we're going for a British coach McDermott, Powell or Wane would be my preferences.

| Wane will almost certainly mean silverware in my humble opinion, but God it would be boring.
Powell's style of play would be great but we may not win much.
McDermott - maybe somewhere between the two.
Briers - not proven, not ready. Needs to go elsewhere to broaden his horizon and effectiveness for if he does step up to a top coaching role.
Henderson - was good at Broncos but not sure what he's done here.
Can't see any other British based coach getting a look in.
Can think of a few Aussies though.

I agree, I'd have Powell over wane or mcdermott because his Cas teams of recent years have been very good, he's got the best out of his players for sure. Either he or Cas have an eye for talent as well. He's a really good coach.

So basically the same as it is now minus the silverware (I’m aware we won a CC).
I’m hearing Wane to be announced in a few weeks.

I have to admit that this was my first reaction as well. However thinking about it, KFP seems to be driven primarily by the clubs finances and I am sure foremost in his mind will be the style of play that Wane encouraged at Wigan. That could be pretty disastrous at the HJ in terms of specie numbers and would not do much for the clubs income. I am pretty sure Wane was kicked out of Wigan because of the fall in spectator numbers due to the style of play. Although nothing was said publicly, Wane didn't exactly leave Wigan for a plum job despite all the success he garnered in the job, ergo I think he was politely eased out.
If Wane does get the job I would strongly suspect that there will be strings attached dictating the style of play, or at least I hope there would be. Speaking personally If we got the 'Wigan Wane model' I would probably dib out of a lot of matches and attend / watch the finals. I am not going to stand in the South watching a drab, dour 80 minutes even if we do win the match. Life is too short. I will go and watch the U18 /19's instead.
