| Leeds fan in peace……I cannot believe that some of your fans are talking about relegation even being a possibility……with only 6 games to go and due to their far inferior points difference, Toulouse need to win 3 of their last 6 (granted one is against you) to stay up and that’s even IF you don’t pick up another point all season.
Fair do’s if some of your fans don’t think you will win another game this season, but even if that were to happen (it won’t in my opinion) there is no way Toulouse are winning 3 of their last 6…they just got smashed at home by a Hull FC team that has had 50 plus put on them 3 of their last 4/5 games.
Granted, you shouldn’t be in this mess…but getting relegated this season….no way

Have you read my post in reply to you on the previous page? If you wish to insult me, there's no point in trying to reasonably discuss anything with you.

| Quote: ratticusfinch "Scenario. Toulouse are 16-0 up, early in the second half Wire get two quick tries and it’s 16-12. Do you think the whole stadium will be roaring Wire on to complete the comeback just like those wondrous Everton fans v Crystal Palace?'"
I think in that scenario, a good section of our fans would be so heavy on the backs of the players that it would be more likely to go to 32-0, than 16-12.
I think with all the negativity that hangs over the club, we have forgot how to support (and I don't necessarily mean that as an insult, it's a natural thing to occur when a side is in the rut we are). Its almost like we now expect the worst and sort of sit back waiting for it to unfurl, rather than realise that a bit more passionate, positive support might just be the difference.
As someone points out here, sarcastic chants of how must you be, to the Huddersfield players, isn't exactly a motivation to the Wire team - more likely it spurs on the opposition to prove you wrong.
So yes, while gallows humour has its place, during the heat of a relegation battle it might be better to leave it on here, than on the terraces.

At the end of the game most of the wire fans left either just before or at the final whistle. A few remained- including the guy with the drum.
They started a rendition of “what the f*cking hell was that” as the players started walking over to the fans, so the players just stopped and walked away again.
It’s no wonder you say they aren’t playing with any heart. Think you are part of the problem.
Compare that to wakey who are fighting tooth and nail to stay up.'"
Blimey this is sad when this is written by a neutral & rational rugby league fan ... I think it would be fair to say ... that our "fans" are very much part of the problem. Of course they are not the main problem ... but some have definitely played their part in our demise. Some have been negative & cynical for many years and it is never the best way to "support" a team. I remember well being labelled a "happy clapper" after losing in a final. Blimey those happy days!

| Someone mentioned ,a few pages back, about our one off great victory at Wembley where we raised our game & wouldn't let Saints get into their stride. When i went to Wembley that day i would have been happy limiting our loss to 30 points because we had been so bad in the league prior to our great day out. I don't mind saying ,i was shocked when we won & the two Saints fans i travelled with were dumbstruck on the way home ,no doubt thinking up excuses as to why Saints were so bad that they lost the match.
My point is that even in what now seem the heady days of Price ,the team were still capitulating in games, losing games that with a bit more enthusiasm & application we should have won. Before Wembley & again after Wembley we really were rubbish & for quite a lot of matches we threw the towel in too easily.
Obviously, the present team must be cut to ribbons confidence wise especially after so many changes in the dressing room but some of them are still remnants of the squad that let us down in the last days of Smith & under Price. I do still wonder if it is a fitness problem though or just motivational.

I did apologise for confusing posts.
I said Jesus wept, it's hardly an insult, but if you're offended by that then apologies.

That wasn't the comment I was referring to. Revisit your posts to me, and mine to you, as that will help you to understand where I'm coming from.
Were all on the same side, and non of us want the Wire to go down, or be worse off than we were under previous regimes etc. etc. but we all have a different view of how this should be achieved, and an individual right to it.
Your insults only hand credibility to those supporters who don't match up your benchmark, of what their behaviour should be when watching a live game, especially when used in a scattergun way.

Regardless of what the fans think of Powell and what’s going on there. The players maybe aren’t playing for Powell, we don’t know whether that’s the case- but what’s clear is that the players aren’t playing for you the fans either, and why would they!
Compare that to Wakefield who are in a dire position, with a poor coach very much out of his depth, and it’s clear that those players - many of them in key positions it appears are leaving that club at the end of the season, are very much playing for the fans.

| Isn't this discussion about the fans being the problem of our teams demise just a distraction for where the responsibility really lies?
Between games the coaching staff spend several days, several hours per day with the players. You know, coaching!
There will always be some nutters following any team, let's face it, we have had a few... But most fans booing a
performance are upset because of what has been delivered on the pitch. If the team has not been prepared properly, supporters have very right to be upset.
Some of those who are now slagging off the fans and are now saying support the team and players are the ones who have been accusing most of the team as bad apples, !azy couldn't care less individuals.
You can't have it both ways!

| Everton fan here who can speak on the whole relegation and sacking saga...
By the way, I actually went to the home game vs Saints over the last game vs Crystal Palace, so it was ALMOST worth it. I am a Season Ticket holder for Everton and Wire so I saw the change in the culture from club to fans...
For months we saw our Team (Everton) playing some utterly garbage football, week in week out. Poor squad selections, negative formations, complete inability to defend from set-pieces. Lampard comes in and we get 2 solid results, plus decent looking performances. Even competing with Man City for 85 minutes... Which was our equivalent to the Wire game vs Saints. BUT, we still let in numerous goals from set-pieces which cost us big games. So results-wise, it wasn't that different.
If anyone heard Sean Dyche's comment about Everton, saying "I don't think these guys know how to win", that's exactly what it felt like to me. And that's exactly where Wire are now... We can take whatever lead we like but we have the overwhelming feeling that we are about to mess it up.
After 5 weeks under Lampard, the football had to be reverted to a Sam Allardyce style, so we didn't look any better then we did under Benitez. And I don't think Wire would look any better with a new coach right now either, and Everton still lost big games and looked shocking under Lampard at times. BUT, the difference was home games. As Everton fans, we had the collective feeling that Goodison was going to be our fortress and our players will get 100% from us and we expect 100% effort in return. As soon as we conceded a goal, we remained quiet as expected but as the cheering from opposition wore off, the crowd got back on side with the players, because they needed us. They'd been humiliated all season, so they needed us backing them, to get their heads focused on the fight.
And that's what the Warrington players need too. We only have 2 home games left, but we have got to be fully onside with the players, including during bad performances. Whoever has the drum needs to be going for close to 80 minutes. We need the South Stand making noise constantly, and we have to get behind the players when they make a mistake, concede a try, or lose the lead. We might only need 4 points to stay up, and the best way for that to happen is to do everything that we can to get ourselves those wins at home. Even if that doesn't happen, they need to know that we're still with them when playing away.
The Halliwell Jones Stadium has got to become a fortress. We must get behind the players for everything. Even after mistakes, they need to know that we are still there for them.
For Everton, the performances were hard to watch, but for the sake of our club, we had to change our attitude from the booing and shouting. It had to be done. Wherever you stand on Powell, that doesn't matter. It wasn't even about Lampard anymore. It was just about showing the players that their fans believed in them.
I know money is tight for everyone right now, but if you can afford to go to the last home games, please do. We need attendance, we need noise, and we need positivity. Criticism is understandable, which Everton players got online, but at the games, we're there until the end.
"Wire till I die" has never been so important.

| Re our fans, yeah we do have some total plumbs watching us, every team does. There are your perennial miseries standing on the terraces at every club in the league, moaning for the full 80 minutes.
Now I've never been one to boo the team off, just not my thing, but I don't kick off when others do, it's their money, their choice (as long as it doesn't get personal). Especially this season, which has been genuinely appalling week after week. I don't even remember feeling this depressed about the Wire standing watching us at Wilderspool in 2002. Its a genuine mess.
The frustrations from the fans have just reached boiling point this season, thats all. We were promised a rebuild, and have basically got in return a total hatchet job on the squad, a poorly coached squad, and a squad that could genuinely now go down. I wouldn't mind if we were 6th/7th, but all of us absolutely terrified at this stage of the season of going down? Nah, just not good enough I'm afraid.
