The more simplified rules the better . Many a time a six again hooter can't be heard & spectators are left wondering what's going on , a penalty is much easier all round. One fault with the game is the constant rule changes many of which get ignored completely by refs as seasons progress.

Whilst I initially liked the 6 again law, despite some inconsistency in its enforcement, it speeded the game up when teams were on a roll. Whereas now, the defending teams are using it cynically on the first to rest, reset and slow the whole game down when it suits.

I tend to agree with you and would favour scrapping it rather than others that would opt for a rethink as simple is best IMO. Making it a penalty IF it's on the first, or in your own half, or if you've got red in your kit is too convoluted and deliberately committing an offence (where we are now), needs to proportionately penalised. .

Exactly. The irony of it being brought in to speed the game up too.

The big issue is it’s mostly on the 1st tackle so the attacking team as just lost the ball and they have to stop the other team making yardage, once upon a time penalty and kick to touch but now teams use it to reset the defence. It’s got to go.

NRL version of penalty if it's in your own 40?

That’s easy enough to implement.

It’s better than what we have, I still wonder if going back to a simple penalty would be better. If you’re attacking 10m out with 2 mins to go and you are 1pt down, the rule still encourages the defending team to slow the play the ball down with little consequence.

We are obsessed with slowing the PTB down. The NRL teams are not. Whatever the rules, that difference won't change.

Either scrap the 6 again rule or make it mean 6 more tackles on top of the existing remaining count (having to defend 10, 11 or 12 tackles would put a stop to the cynical lying-on at the beginning of sets.

Just watched game again & the last ten minutes was impressive.
The Ashton try was a cracker. Slowish ball, Clark (two dummy runners), Drinkwater, Williams (huge dummy run from Curry), Dufty, Ratchford cracking quick pass to Ashton. Worth watching.
Bullock did some very decent stuff.
Watched on Wire TV which had commentary for the first time.

It was a great try and it can be seen here for those without WireTV.

How did Williams pick up 3 MOS points by the way? Don’t think he deserved one.
