| Fair enough. I stand wrong then. It's a sad thing in football when a player recieves such threats like Gerrard and Rooney have.

Quote: sally cinnamon "Gerrard almost joined Chelsea in June 2004 for £20m, and again 12 months later, for £32m, after the Anfield captain reacted to the interest by submitting a transfer request. He changed his mind only after his family received death threats and a fan burned his replica shirt live on Sky TV.'" '"
And had he signed, Chelsea would have won bugger all afterwards due to the inability of Gerrard and Lampard to play together.
Or, alternatively, Chelsea would have shown that Gerrard and Lampard can play together, and England would then have won the World Cup in 2006...

Oh and all those we'll have Torres when Rooney goes lot, why would Torres sign for a manager who spent the week after the manure v liverpool game slagging him off as a cheat???

| It'd be nice to see some of the clauses, on both sides, in Rooney's new contract.
Its a clever move by United....By getting Rooney to sign, his transfer value has doubled in a flash.....With just 18 months left on the old deal they'd have been lucky to get 30 million....He's now back upto the silly Ronaldo style figures of £60m+.
After all what has happened, and don't forget we now know what Rooney truly feels, it still wouldn't surprise me to see Rooney depart within a year or two, especially if United's inability to compete in the market with the Chelsea's and Man City's continues.

| If anyone thought for one minute that Rooney wouldn't sign a new deal, they are deluded. It was a simple media stunt, he just felt like a bit of the limelight, probably because everything is focused on how crap Liverpool are at the moment.
THere was no way on earth that Rooney would leave OT. His reasoning that the club lacks ambition just confirmed he was talking out of his and that this would have been resolved without any problems at all.

| apparently united have £60m to spend for before next season so it looks like we could sign a few players.

| Not really. If you're on about the Anderson thing, alot of Utd fans were hyping him up to be a world beater and the next Zidane. Check the forums.

you're the only person i've ever heard refer to it. Like I said previously, he was touted as the next Ronaldinho and hasn't lived upto the hype.

I wouldn't bank on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney went in the summer.

Now, I go on a few of the more sensible United forums, go to the games, watch the games on pubs in and around Warrington and Manchester and know a lot of United fans who know their football and talk a lot of sense, but I've never heard the names of Zidane and Anderson mentioned in the same sentence.
There are however a lot of noddy forums about filled with idiots who I'm surprised if they know how to put their shoes on in the morning never mind what makes a good player, but the general consensus was that Anderson was showing a lot of potential when he first arrived if not a little inconsistant. He had very good games up against Gerrard and Fabregas hence the song that is sung for him.

I suppose you have never chanted Sh*t helens then? Or do you just shake your head in disgust and question the maturity of fellow wire fans when they chant it? Or is it because i dared to use an insulting moniker against a team you support? They will always be manure to me.
