Apart from Holbrook and Wane, I can't think of any other stand out potential candidates. If both said no, then I can't think of any better realistic options.

Yes, it`s a mine field, with a lot of snipers in the long grass too.
FWIW, I wanted us to appoint Watson from Salford and not Powell, before Huddersfield beat us to the punch, but his tenure there has been underwhelming, and they threw away last years Challenge Cup Final with his negative tactics, so what do I know???

There’s a pool of assistant coaches in the NRL who would be interested IMO. If Holbrook and Wane aren’t interested then we need to unearth the next Maguire, Holbrook, Woolf etc. We should be aiming higher than a bloke who’s biggest achievement is winning the championship with Leigh.

Rubber Duckie, he could fill the team with props, bring his mates John Kear to assist and Eddie Battye to train all the props

| Justin Morgan, Danny Ward are possibilities........but would they be ideal.....who knows.
It's seems so obvious we are gonna go all out to get Holbrook, even though last year and this year with Gold coast have been similar to Powell here.. Doesn't instill confidence in him. Also would he want to uproot his family and move back to the UK, i doubt it, but if nobody bites in Aus he might have no choice. But does that scream of desperation rather than actual desire to come here?

Given Powell’s ranting interview I think Middleton was perfectly entitled to disclose.

I must not have been clear. I meant the disclosure of details in the weeks preceding Sunday. i.e) Rubber Duckie (and others) being allegedly told the situation by a company director a few weeks ago. That's not on if true.

| Surely people connected with the club would have learnt by now not to open their mouths so handily when riding in Duckie's Karaoke bus, as they must know he's just going to come on here and reveal all?

| Qho'd of Peet before he got the Wigan job? Chambers has a similar background so worth a go if he wants it and interestingly preferred to Marshall short-term. Big name no guarantee of success. It pains me to consider Rowley who has never had money behind him yet has a good record. McDermott is a winner who must be in the frame and doesn't suffer fools gladly.

On Mcdermott. I've never been impressed with him. He did have success with Leeds. But i always feel he had that golden generation where some were coming to the end of their careers and wanted to go out on a high. I think he got lucky and the team coached itself most of the time. Despite the success, i don't think he is that well regarded at Leeds. I watched a podcast with Kevin Sinfield not long ago and he wasn't very glowing of him. Basically said in his last season Mcdermott left him out of the side (as captain) but didn't give him any explaination and would hold virtually no eye contact in conversations they had. Sinfield thought his time was up but then did come back in the second half of the season. I think Mcdermott would be another disaster personally.
