Far from it RD , im just think Wires 71 has done the right thing , we all have our opinions on players and their playing ability , but unless you Really know them its a mistake knocking them , even if you know them it isn't worth it , Wire2 71 I think you are a decent bloke .Andy has admitted to me a few times how he has made mistakes he regrets in the Past , but haven't we all ?

I have to admit , I haven't read Pint Size , thouroughly just a few pages here and there ,so I cant comment on this ,at the moment I know Andy is very happy with his life , and deserves his Testimonial ,he doesn't read Forums like this , but he does care about RL fans from all clubs , believe me he is a genuine Bloke .Me being a Leyther though I rated John Woods as THE best all round Rugby player I have ever seen , you at Wire didn't get to see him at his best for you , it was the same when he returned to Leigh , a shadow of himself , but still a great player , and again a very nice and very modest man .

John Woods was a great player but a different kind of player to Andy Gregory. John Woods would do individually great things whereas Gregory could create the space and the pass for others to shine. He could courageously take the ball to the line like a pocket battleship and had such a variety of disguised superbly timed passes that would put others through the gap. I have to agree with him that a combination of himself and a superb running second rower like Mark Roberts were lethal. Both Woods and Gregory were great players and in some respects Woods was superior, but if you wanted someone to organise and orchestrate your team, Gregory, at his peak, was one of the best I have seen in sixty years of watching Rugby League.

I agree that Andy and Woods were 2 totally different players , Andy was the 2nd best scrum half I have seen , behind only Murph , as you say he could organise defences and attacks , and set up the moves , but Woody , had everything , he could score tries from nothing , anywhere on the field , had speed , a swerve and sidestep to die for , he could tackle , kick goals , and tactically kick for on field positions .maybe not the best trainer , but IF he had played for Wire , Wigan , or Saints in his Pomp , it would be frightening what he would have done .

Andy and Woods as Halves in their Pomp that would have been something .

I may have mentioned this before , but Like me ,John Woods is a Butts Bridger ,who loved playing for Leigh , still lives round the corner from me , John loved Leigh and didn't want to leave when Bradford signed him ,he did say he would NEVER play for Wigan , had no time for them ,and I think when he came to Wire his career was winding down , I think the same happened with Drummond .At Leigh we were probably not a fashionable club , but Woody , Drummond and Donlan enjoyed it here .

I noticed at that the Wigan legend line up last week, Andy Gregory didn't wear a Wigan tie!

Charlie now lives at Butts Bridge in Leigh , for my sins , my Daughter now lives in Warrington , she is engaged to a Wire Fan and has been to a few games , though she will be attending the Leigh game on Sunday , we all have our crosses to bear , though as I have said , im a big Chris Hill fan , and have met Mickey Higham many times .
