14 Players from our youth system have played this season (15 if you include our "foreigner"icon_wink.gif. With 2 more very close and probably will make their debut before the season is out!! |

More my money Wigan based upon a fit squad at the start of the season could well have been:

3. Gleeson (conned into buying)

6. Tomkins (academy)
7. Leluai (overseas)
8. Fielden (purchased)
9. Riddell (overseas)
10. Coley (recruited)
11. Bailey (overseas)
12. Tomkins (academy)
13. O’Loughlin (academy)
14. Pa’alensena (overseas)
15. Deacon (recruited)
16. Prescott (academy)
17. Hansen (academy)
So that’s 5 academy players and 8 over-seas players. It’s all well and good saying we have played 14 or whatever academy players but to me that says that some of the recruitment at Wigan needs a closer looking at. Having over-seas players in the u20’s is a joke and a waste of salary cap. |

Funny but Feka and Phelps are going at end of the season as they arent good enough but yet your fit them into your best Wigan team!!
Its a squad game over a season and our academy players have made far more influence on our season than the 2 above and possibly Bailey at times!!

Feka can't get a game with Coley and O'Carrol missing. Phelps will probably play this weekend but he's been looked over most of the season. Deacon will probably be replaced by McIllorum when he's fit again. The Bailey issue is a contentious one. Mossop may get a game before him now and Farrell is also pushing him now.
Your last comment regarding overseas players playing for reserves: It's a squad that our coach has inherited. Next year is the time to judge this regimes recruitment.
