To be brutally honest we keep hold of Ashton, Thewlis and Walker. Bin the rest, who either have the talent but can't be bothered, or work dilligently but have no natural skill to speak of.
Incidentally, which of those two categories do you put Currie, Sneyd, Dufty, and Harrison in? |

Hi Damienc,
Let me make sure I understand you correctly; you'd keep Tai and Powell but let Currie go? Have you considered a role in our recruitment team?
Williams, incidentally, is not a great player. He's a very good one when he chooses to be - but that has been seldom in his Wire career. The last decent performance from a Wire halfback was v Saints. A certain Mr Currie.
In 2025 we have regressed to 2005. Same lack of professionalism, same lack of backbone and same chance of winning the GF - none.
Sack the coach by all means, then sack his assistants, the recruitment team and the CEO. Anything else is deckchairs/Titanic.
We won a hell of a lot more games in 2005, we had better players who put in shed loads more effort, and 10 times more backbone with pride in the club and just got on with it all. We're currently NOTHING like we were in 2005.........unfortunately. 2005 we finished 4th, one point behind Bradford in 3rd. We could only dream of finishing in one of those positions this year or in the next few. We are rotten to the core. |

We looked a pretty sorry outfit today. Powell should be way down the list of players to build a team around - no zip with ball in hand and some absolutely woeful distribution. Williams is really miles off it at the moment, not sure if it is a fitness thing but he isn't really offering any more than Ratchford was.
Powell is a decent 'old head' who you can substitute with your main 9 just to steady the ship for spells in a match, but he is as much a game-changing, attacking hooker as I am! |

On the field ... I think we are going to struggle. We might change a few little things but I don't see a bit of tinkering making much difference. For me the bad news is that I don't see this as an effort/attitude thing. I just don't think we have much quality. If we get Dufty & Walker back this will liven up our attacking options and that is my only hope. Speccies may scream and shout & want blood but I fear we are going to watch us suffering until the end of the season. The poor recruitment has meant that our injuries have hit us so very hard and I am far from optimistic of a speedy revival.

I think we all realise this season is a write off and with more capitulations to come. It’s the future I’m concerned about and losing promising youngsters in order to retain average or aged trundlers.
With misery guts Burgess and KFP’s money grabbing nonsense - I find it very difficult to even like the club atm.

Off the field ... I don't know who really makes the decisions. Not really into sacking people (especially the daft idea of sacking everyone) and would prefer to work with people & the next person in might be worse. The xxxx has really hit the fan because of injuries. Last year with few injuries & with the same management things looked relatively promising. If we have definite proof that someone is not up to task well we may need to change ... but I don't enjoy a lynching as much as some.
