I wonder what Kendall would have given, had it not been a TV game....held up over the line??????'"
I said on Twitter I'd have been raging if that was Saints losing to that call. But, it's a very difficult one to find a system for. The benefit of the doubt to the attacking team mantra comes into it, you can always flip your argument and say they can't prove he hasn't scored either. It's entirely possible the ball squirms off the hand under it or that he forces one end of it into contact with the grass. We'll likely never know and if it was disallowed, rather than being on this board, it'd be on Hull's with them saying the opposite.
Interesting tactics from Wire today I thought. Ultra quick play the balls, so many scoots or quick darts at the line and throwing it around like it's the last 5 minutes of the game all game. It looks very lively and threatening and is similar to how you used to play against Saints. It'll bring a lot of line breaks and I guess is playing to your strengths as it avoids the forwards. It's a flawed system though as playing at that intensity will bring about a lot of errors. Your outcome in a lot of games will likely be determined by how many balls you drop and you'll defeat yourselves at times.

| Quote: Cokey "Has anyone noticed how they do it in the NRL? If the ref gives a try, the bunker has a quick look whilst they are celebrating the try, and lining up the conversion. If the bunker see anything that might rule the try out, the ref is informed asap, and the ref then holds up any procedures so the bunker can take a closer look. I haven't a clue why we don't use that here. I would also like to add that i really like the captains challenge but we can't use it here because every SL game isn't shown on TV.'"
None of that would help here though. At the end of the day they've either got to decide benefit of the doubt to the attack or defense as they can't see where the ball ultimately ends up.

Fair enough mate but, i am eluding to the concept of it, and it would ultimately be beneficial to the game in the long run.

Sadly the sad one is right and thats a sad state of affairs sadly.
Thats going to overshadow all the other poor calls we were victim to tonight. That truly was one of the worst refereeing displays I've ever seen. He should be stood down he is that bad. Him and Liam Moore are abysmal.

| Bottom line is, Kendall or the liners would not of seen the grounding of that ball. So how can you send it up as a try? Surely you would send it up as No Try and if theres evidence to give it, then fair enough.....

| I used to take the mick out of rugby union when they gave a try under a load of bodies and you can't see the ball touch the grass. I'm ashamed to say our sport is now as bad.

That's true on 50/50 calls but this wasn't one of them.
If the ref doesn't know, he should be able to say as much to the video ref. The video ref should then give determine the most likely outcome.
In this instance, it was crystal clear that the most likely result was that the ball wasn't grounded.

Spot on mate, what about prior to the try/no try debate it would have been academic if Kendall had awarded a pen when that Fash who shouldn't have been playing if those poor sods at the review panel hadn't needed an Easter break stripped the ball, quite easily seen as well by all, I don't have the sound on, on Sky so I'm not sure how he could give Wire a scrum instead of a Penalty.

| I know I'm playing at Devil's advocate but why don't they copy what Union do?Ask the question,Try,yes or no?,that try would never have been given.

| The line/forward calls tonight were pityful......half of the calls the crowd gave.
Told you everything when Hull had a 'line' ball called, and Barry McDermot made a point of saying 'nothing wrong with that'. He knew it was exactly the same as one we got pinged for 10 minutes prior.
Im not d if the ref gives it, as long as theyre consistent.....they never are though...Kendall is a shambles.....and Moore isnt far behind.

| The "scorer" absolutely barrelled into your defence getting a metre over the line. I can see why Kendall might have thought he'd managed to ground the ball too. That said, no-one could see either way whether he actually had.

| Think we are being unfair on the ref here. He or a linesman could have said looks like it's down to me, not sure so will have a look but he has to pick try or no try. The replay cannot with certainty disprove the score

| Said it before on a previous thread, the standard of the game in this country compared to Oz is woeful - the quality of the teams, the fitness levels, the officiating, the coverage, the commentary, the infrastructure.....and yes, I know it's pretty much the national sport over there, but it's almost like a completely different sport.
The refereeing/officiating in this country is spoiling what little entertainment there is left in the game that I have watched and loved for well over 40 years.......but I'm rapidly finding that I just can't get excited about it any more, which is a crying shame.
