| Trying to take the emotion out of this post but having great difficulty. Watched the wire for 40 years and seen some shocking performances , however this ranks up there as probably the worst I’ve seen.
Let me put it into context, as a club we currently have the biggest expenditure, the best infrastructure, on paper the best squad , the best board who are not shy of trying to bring success, the best fan base .
Tonight I witnessed players without passion, care or direction. It was shameful tonight and not one of them really cares .
How Price starts with Philbin and Akuelo is staggering. 2 of our best impact players. No Walker ( he may be injured ) , Ratchford at hooker ( worst performance I have seen but that’s unfair in grand scheme of what he has done. )
Thewlis instead of Charnley is such a big game. No back up hooker.
I could go on but take nothing away from Tony Smith as this thread suggests “ out coached”
Embarrassing

| Quote Wires71="Wires71"Where do we go? Board will stay exactly the same and in a couple of months the tired old marketing hype will start about "Powell's new breed" or something equally crass and we go again.'"
At least one thing with Powell's dour Yorkshire demeanour is he will have about as much time for that bullpoop as we do.
He might moan and whinge about refs and injuries but he's not going to patronise the fans by churning out management-bingo comms phrases and empty positivity.

Not as far as the Mata’utia/Mamo swap is concerned.
Mata’utia is a decent centre, but he has some shocking games. He offers very little in attack - not much pace, can’t feed the winger and usually cuts inside even when there is space out wide.
Holmes is different - when he”s on the field he’s a very good player - hits hard in defence and runs good lines with good footwork in attack. If (and it’s a big IF) he stays fit, he’d get in any team in SL.

| Did you see Mamo tonight? He's been a great bargain bin.signing for us but he got shown up tonight against an out and out centre. They targeted our right edge all night.

| With being big spenders every season comes the high expectations, it's only natural to feel deflated. But it's only 2 years since you last won a trophy.

| Quote WireWireWire="WireWireWire"Price won the same amount of trophies as Powell did at Cas, and Powell had double the tenure. Yes, Warrington have more money, and 'better' players if the wage is what we're going off, but it won't make a difference putting Powell in charge if we're being honest.'"
It will make a massive difference and you will win Super League next year , he will not accept any nonsense from above , has the ability to improve players and your team will play a great brand of Rugby

| The executive team of Warrington Wolves need to take a long, hard, look at themselves and question whether the problem stems from the top down. Inexperienced CEO as leader, poor coach recruitment, failing to make hard decisions when they were needed. For 3 years we have bombed out of the playoffs at round 1. By and large our performances have been patchy. Price was hardly going to sack himself from the last head coach job he will ever have. The board tolerate failure and its endemic in the clubs culture. In the time of this dismal reign Saints have won SL with 2 different coaches and could win it again this year.
Assuming no changes at the exec level we can only hope Powell can manage upwards. He'll need to.

| The only positive is that we have already moved to sort out the coaching situation and the full clear out has already happened; there won't be any coaching deadwood knocking around the new lot can get to work from today.
It would be daft to think it was just a coaching issue though. All of my worst fears were realised last night: one side playing like they had nothing to lose, with a clear discernible gameplan and a raucous crowd backing them; the other side playing like they had a turtle's head in their drawers with their fans stood scowling. Recipe for disaster and our team wasn't good enough to refocus when we fell behind; instead we just saw players flying in trying to find short cuts and the whole team seemingly losing the ability to even stand up and put a rugby ball on the ground without fumbling it. Ok I will stop, I am getting angry again.
Actually there's a second positive: some old friends on here have finally remembered their log in details.

Yep ... Oh the forum! Perhaps our "fans" don't help the recipe either.
Anyway let's see if it makes me feel better. Rubbish, sack everyone, totally inept, rubbish, stealing a living, sack the cleaning staff, rubbish ... Cullen out, Smith out, Price out, Powell out ... I've been waiting for this moment to arrive and I feel much better now.

| Decent man by all accounts, but not a top class coach - especially given the resources he has had at his disposal.
I had real concerns when he was first appointed.
The half a dozen really top notch performances in 3 years doesn't hack it.
We had long periods of woeful attack in which the structures didn't seem to be there.
Players must take some responsibility too, but enough have been chosen by Shaun Wane for the England squad to suggest that in the main it's not a player problem,
(But last night you can't blame Price for the 20 odd dropped balls).
