| Are the club missing a trick by not having a dedicated 'Kids Club' membership?
A little concerned that with the talk of switching home games to Friday nights, and there not being a 'Wolfpack' type option for younger fans that the club will lose touch slightly...?

have you not noticed? there's been no speak since the survey of changing matchday, this membership has been dressed up as this great thing, we're all going to be one big family etc, You wait till it's announce we're playing home games on friday, or when the fixtures come out, backlash, BIG TIME.

Can't understand what's so great about the membership scheme. I don't see the point in it at all.

| The NRL clubs do it. Its a good marketing tool, it gets existing ST holders to renew and new members to join with a promise of some small saving here and there. Next thing you know we'll have slot machines in the lounges. Once they have their quota they then release the news that the home games will be switched to Friday (my assumption) thus having banked the money. Some will like this, some will not and some will not bother either way.

^This.
In related news though, my email address must be on some club database because they emailed me about the membership the other day and said they'd love to have me back.
I'm not entirely sure where they think I went, but if it makes them feel better I'll be "back" at Huddersfield on Sunday.

They're going to choose to do that (or not) based on a number of factors. I doubt whether having a membership system in place makes any difference.

If there's savings to be had, the club should offer them out anyway. It's not as if the membership costs anything.
I can see why the likes of United do it where there is high demand for limited tickets. You have to pay for membership but you get discounted tickets, so you have to way up if you're going to get value from it over the season. That's not the case here is it?
The only reason I can see for it, is that it builds up a marketing database for casual fans. They've already got info on season ticket holders which they can use for marketing purposes. There is also less administration on the ticketing side with the season cards.
So, a few advantages for the club but not really anything different for the fans.
Hopefully they've got plans on expanding the membership benefits (lots of discounted stuff please, the Nandos deal in the season ticket the other year was great until they cottoned on to how much money they were losing through it) in the future.

| United do it so they can get round the Premier League rule of away fans being charged the same as home fans for a similar spec. Tickets are cheaper for United members than non members, but pretty much the only tickets (other than season tickets, corporates, etc) sold to non members are in the away end. Therefore away fans pay more than the United fans standing next to them in the K Stand.
Liverpool do it so they can rip fans off by charging them £30 a year for the right to purchase tickets. They don't have to charge this of course, but good luck getting a "general sale" ticket if you haven't paid it.
Basically, memberships at high demand grounds are used to rip people off. The Wires membership isn't (or doesn't seem to be on the face of it) but it does seem a bit pointless.

I looked into getting a Liverpool membership last year. . but that was as you say a rip off of sorts. .they were charging around 30 quid, and that would get you a beanie hat scarf n pencil case or something similar .... but wait for it the"chance" to buy tickets for West Brom, Stoke and Swansea at home. ..
So... the second last in line (last really) for tickets for eye wateringly dreadful teams. At no discounted price if I remember. Either way I wasnt fussed I find football more tedious as the seasons go by and my eldest has lost interest too and my two youngest are barcelona fans... (full Messi and Naymar kits I thank you)
I'll join the wires membership for no other reason than its not that dear, I feel like I'm joining something meaningful also I'll be helping the club in its ambition to become bigger. .....plus I spend a fortune in the club shop. ..so it would be nice for them to know what I buy and thank me in some small way. ..

I know this happens but it isn't the reason why. The membership came in years before any discounted tickets. Although you could get in the Stretford groundside with a membership and it was 20p cheaper than Stretford Paddock which was open to anyone.

| Fair enough. I've obviously been in the away end at Old Trafford a few times though, and I pay £27 a year for my "Light membership" (which gives no benefits other than access to tickets which is all I want) at Liverpool because I've got no choice in the matter. I reckon I've therefore been ripped off by both clubs membership schemes. That's the reason why I'm not a fan of them at all, which is the primary reason for my disdain for the Wires one!
As with football, the only thing I really buy from Wires is entry to matches, so unless the membership starts to offer a benefit there then I see no reason to join it when access to all games is easy.

Trust me on this games will not be moving to Fridays (apart from Sky matches, of course ).

| I would like to suggest that the club start addressing the issues on the pitch. Start getting the right results on the pitch & gimmicks won't be needed.
