For the third and final time..
Whilst if he is to make the switch back it would be more beneficial if he was sold now rather than leave for free at the end of the kick and clap season.

| I can't help but think the timing is remarkable. Wouldn't be surprised if he signed for you.

| People saying they wouldnt have Eastmond due to his attitude issues............................... at the same time as we are all "mourning" the loss of Lee Briers. How ironic. Could his discipline improve under TS? i think its evident that he can turn players around. Would I want him to come to us? No. But that purely on the ground that I dont think he is any better than the players we have.

Seriously though, he could be a Harris or Smith and be the shadow of the player he was or even come back next to useless possibly continue with the biscuit bones.
Not worth the risk'"
When you look at that back 7, it definately has frailties
Russel. Looks good in broken play, but defensively, quite iffy
Monaghan. A big portion of his try supplies has now retired, and not exactly blessed with pace/youth
Atkins. Not the man he was
Eastmond. All the loyalty of SBW
Evans. Would get injured on A Question of Sport
Ratch. Not the finished article, but very good
Myler. See Ratch.
If this is a bloke who'd walk out on his team mates during a game, I wouldn't be best pleased. 2@
It's a no from me.

I'm appalled on so many levels, Teesside
Did he wet the bed, after the previous week's drinking session in the Rugby Club
He's all the backbone of a guppy
and most worryingly, you played RU, Teesside. May God have mercy on your soul
Mind you, I think I'd have rather gone shopping than played 3 point

After this season doesn't he have 1 more as part of a 3 year contract with Bath & the RU ?
But if he's publicly saying he's had enough of Union and wants to return to League then Bath will, like you say, sell him sooner rather than later. Seems daft not to.

It isn't a question of discipline. It is the mindset of an individual who patently has no team ethic. I don't recall that ever being levelled at Briers.

| He will come back and there will be no shortage of takers, we don't need him and for that reason alone it's enough. Personally I think he'll take about half a season to get up to scratch and the be the Eastmond of old which tbf is a very good player but the Eastmond of old is also a biscuit boned, self interested, petulant child.

Anyone who thinks he's not as good as we already have is an idiot.

| I'd take him in a heartbeat. Its one of those where if we dont sign him, we will probably later regret it when he is playing for one of our rivals. He has played for England in Union so he must be doing something right over there and with a bit of coaching under Smith he could be brilliant for us. and we would have a very young and exciting back line that will last us for years!

| My first reaction was don't touch with a bargepole but having thought about this I would be up for signing Eastmond if Smith felt he could work with him and if he could fit in with the squad. We have got guys like Grix, Westwood, Higham, Ratchford who are 100% team players and Eastmond would have to fit in with them not the other way round.
At the moment we are short of talent to win trophies and Eastmond would give us that. As for what he has done in his past, if this forum had been around in 1985/86 when we were looking to sign Les Boyd who had been banned for life for eye gouging in Australia most of the posts on here would have said we don't want a player that would eye gouge a fellow rugby league player so compared to that, doing a runner at half time in a club RU match isn't a big deal IMO.
Eastmond isn't a certainty to make the 2015 England RU squad and even if he does it might be as a bit part player. The whole attraction of going to RU for league players is internationals and the World Cup, to make it worthwhile you have to be a top international player, regular in the team, like Robinson, Rogers, Sailor, Tuqiri, Brad Thorn or Sonny Bill. Those were the guys that made good careers in RU, the others were bit part players and all the big money and sponsorship and glamour that RU offers that league can't, depends on being an international. If you're only a club player you are better in SL than the RU club game.
He might recognise that now and realise that actually league offers him more than union, he's a good enough player to get Man of Steel and win trophies and go to the NRL, like Tomkins has done. He's still young enough to come back and make it but he needs to make the switch soon and have his attitude right when he comes.
Being a controversial player and touting yourself around for big deals is fine but you need to be like Anthony Mundine or Sonny Bill, ie super hard trainers that up their value by being unarguably indispensable to a team. If you are injured all the time or blow hot and cold but just throw in flashes of individual brilliance that look good on a youtube vid you aren't going to be valued in the same way.
At the moment Eastmond has created question marks over him which Tomkins hasn't, which is why Tomkins career has eclipsed Eastmond's. With a good mentor like Tony Smith in a good professional environment like ours he could make it in league and I think with us he could win MoS and win trophies, so I would be open to him coming but Smith would need to be sure.
This could be all hypothetical as he might not be available anyway.

| Les Boyd was a lovely man, I will not hear a word against him. I really enjoyed watching his huge bulk battering the opposition and then the next minute, being treated to his dancing feet. He was a complete contradiction, but with that voluminous shirt billowing behind him, there was no better sight than Les in full flight. And when we played Wigan and Saints, it was not a matter of whether he was going to hit someone, only who it was going to be.
I now find myself tut tutting when I see dirty play, and as a Wire fan, I actually disliked Alex Murphy with his niggling trips / punches etc when the ref was not looking. So I don't really understand why I always had a soft spot for Les.
I suppose he just brought out the worst in me.
Sorry God
