I have a cost effective way, we employ people to run up and down the line, in line of play, have one on either side for ease, we could call them the judges of the touchline or something catchy like that, it could work, but we'd have to employ good people.

The NRl were suppose to be trialing a tracking device inserted into the ball which would indicate to the video ref/4th official when the ball went forward. It was sugest he then advises the ref or that it be changed so that the ref had a wrist strap which vibrated.

I read this somewhere too. Or was it mentioned by a commentator during one of the SOO games ?

My proposal a while back was the best way. Just have the ball so when passed forwards, it explodes. No grey areas that way and it would be an amazing viewing spectacle.
