You would think that a bigger stadium with more people in it, and two corners filled in, would make for a better atmosphere.

However, providing extra room for people to spread out could make an atmosphere harder to generate.

I think in the long run, provided crowds continue to improve, the atmosphere will get better.

On a related note, the atmosphere would be a lot better if people actually paid attention to the game. Someone above noted the mass of teenagers who turn up and just text/chat etc (and I agree with this), but for the past few home matches I have been stood in front of two middle aged men who do nothing but talk all game and it is really quite annoying.

Indeed Philth. I have a few Leeds supporters amongst my friends (oh, how i laughed....) and they love coming to the HJ. Daughter goes to school in Wigan and her friends (those who like rugby anyway) think that v Warrington is their best game for atmosphere, home and away.
