Quote Paul Youane="Paul Youane"Don't think Warrington have a problem putting "kids in pivotal roles" seems as we have Myler who is the same age as Gaskell and Lomax at Saints (who are only playing due to injuries and mardy lips anyway) as our first choice scrum-half.
The concern I have with O'Brien is that him and Briers play a similar type of game and do not compliement each other in the way Briers' and Myler's games do. Its all well and good Briers chasing the short reverse-kick under the sticks ala Myler against Keighley but I don't want him doing that role against Super League clubs.'"
Yeah, appreciate Myler is very young himself PY, but I meant more in terms of bringing somebody up from the Academy if you know what I mean? Its a massive step up for O'Brien where as Myler has played International already. The likes of Lomax got chucked in the deep end and didn't drown whatsoever.
Therefore, I do have faith in the lad. He'd be partnered with basically a wizard in Briers so he doesn't need to feel too pressured. As for that kick yes, definately wouldn't want to see
too much of that against Cas but to be fair, our attacking prowess, kicking game and offloading has served us well so far this year. Doing 'banana' kicks or reverse kicks etc should be welcomed if you have the ability to do it with the right timing and in the right field position.
Aslong as our forwards dominate, as we'd fully expect, then a couple of gambles whether they succeed or not shouldn't prevent us from winning this one. No disrespect to Cas there either.
Just my opinion ofcourse.
