Quote: Rogues Gallery "And what if Wigan do the same to Hodgson.
Pay particular attention to the missed tackles and errors, which I presume is what you were alluding to regarding Sam.

rlhttps://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics_player.php?hs1'"

Player A knocks on on the half way line when making a break results in opposition scrum head and feed and nothing more than another set of 6 to succesfully defend. the Games Ive seen Tomkins play
he is devastaing with Ball in Hand Running at defences...he's made some good tackles but missed some, but has quite often come up with a number of handling errors in goal or on the try line when dealing with kicks...........

you could agree or disagree and talk about his non televised game, but dont throw stats at me from the superleague web site like I'm supposed to read them and go crikey he's better than Billy Slater .........

Brett Hodgson is an absolutely Magnificent full back as an oldie I have a soft spot for Brian Johnson but Hodgson is a different Gravy if i'm honest....if you think he's not very good I wont loose sleep over it....

The thing with Sam is that he is still learning how to play full back scarily! He was mainly put there for his devistation in attack. In some games this year his positioning has been poor but this seems to be improving week on week and will continue to improve under the watchful eyes of Steve Hampson and Kris Radlinski not bad people to learn from eh?

For me Brett Hodgson is the reason you are doing so well this year, hes a model professional, chimes into the line excellently and also does one thing which you where lacking last year. Goal Kick!

At the minute there is only two teams who i think will be at old trafford wigan and warrington!

hudds were awful, clueless in attack, when they got to wigans line they would throw an x ball then go for the short option nearly all of the time, the only time i remember them going with the back runner grix then kicked it on the 2nd tackle straight to brett finch's arms. their defence was shocking, their right side were none existant and after a while the whole team was just all over the place. obviously losing danny brough has affected their attack but i struggle to see why their forwards suddenly werent interested in playing, they usually are very dominant but didnt look like they wanted to be their. all i can say is based on that performance, i am not worried about playing them in two weeks. however if they perform well next week and last night was a fluke, then i think we will be in for a tough game.

we havent been playing well for a few month now, being able to pick up wins but not with out a struggle and a couple of bad loses to wakefield and crusaders

losing LOD in the forwards was abit of a blow as he has been brilliant for us this season but losing danny brough was a big one, while we have not been playing well his kicking game and his overall game have won us a few games. but we have been waiting for a bettering like that

altho at 6 - 6 if scott grix didnt knock on from kick off we could have done alot better but after wigan went in a min later our players just looked down and then a good team was exposing our recent bad play and we just got worse through out the game to a point where im not sure i have seen us so stunned and off the pace since nathan brown took charge.

altho losing this game didnt help our top 2 finish i think it may give us the reboot we need, LOD will return next week good timing for the wire game with brough could be pushed back for the warrington game but could be back for the bulls game a week after,

warrington this season have been winning games with the strength and hunger of there forwards which as alowed quality backs to do there stuff, now the 2 times this season we have played wire our forwards have managed to get on top laying the platform for 2 brilliant wins i think if we can respond to this and we start rasing our game to where we can be i wouldnt write us off in any comp yet but alot has to change from yesterday if we are gonna be able to contend

Quote: Horatio Yed "Rouges if you created a dream team right now, who would you have at 1. Hodgson or Tomkins'"

He'd pick Tomkins to run away with on a desert island, like that episode of Family Gut where Stuey and Rupert go to the beach together. Rogues would be Rupert and he would have a bag of Wethers Originals tucked into his shorts. Lovely image.

Wigan are on top of their game atm. S Tomkins is superb, i'd have him at warrington in a heart beat. Unfortunately Huddersfield were well off their game, shocking defence out wide. 5th play options on Wigans line were awful. Shame it would have been an interesting game watching 2 in form teams.

exactly! it was one of those days where nothing went right.
im not sure if warrington have had one yet, but i suspect, or rather hope that the real huddersfield turn up in warrington, and hopefully get a coach that works icon_smile.gif

Anyone who watched Wigan Vs Huddersfield and comes up with the conclusion that Huddersfield got beat simply because they played poorly are very deluded.

Wigan absolutely dominated them in a way no other team has this year, us included (twice). We did it to Leeds. You take away the bite of the pack, and the backs cannot play.
Bizarrely though, I look at Wigan's pack and don't particularly rate it as "great". To me, the likes of Mossop, Coley, Prescott are all a bit run of the mill, churn up the ground forwards, and Jeff Lima is just another Danny Lima. But credit where it's due they certainly get the job done and make very few errors.

As for Tomkins. For me the most exciting player in SL. I'd love to see him try out in the NRL. He's also a great cheat just like Briers in terms of gaining advantage for his side. He has a knack of clamping players arms in the tackle. The best players are usually little fockers.

Mossop is probably the best prop under 25 other than James Graham that England has. He's aggressive in attack, ferocious in defence, and showed some great footwork to score on Saturday.

At the start of the season i'd have agreed with you as a Wigan fan, but Mossop looks international quality this season, Prescott has kicked on again and has stopped the silly errors he used to make. Coley could possibly be on the wane this season a bit but we shall see.

We also have fielden back in a few weeks who was our best prop last season, im not sure how he will get a game though given how the pack are playing

Harrison is better than Mossop and has been doing it for longer.

We always get how great and tough the Wigan pack are in the weeks leading up to our games with them and it all ends in tears (and busted shoulders for Hansen and Mossop) when our pack knocks ten bells out of the Wigan forwards.

Warrington are very good.
Wigan are very good.

The chances of a supporter from either club admitting the other is slightly better are about as likely as Wellens going the length of the field for anything other than to wave his arms in the air at an official.

I always find it much more interesting to hear the perspective of fans from other clubs.

Our pack is ripping it up at the minute, only a fool could say they're not. Also your pack does turn up against Wigan (as it's your cup final) but what happens the week after you play us...you lose due to fatigue!

If you wanna start with the arrogant BS earn it first. And Harrison is good but THIS season so far Mossop is better.

I'd rather lose the week after than lose during the game, which is what tends to happen when we play you.
