| I reckon that now makes Leeds favourites for Wembley, it removes a important motivator from the pre match briefing from McDermott which suits me just fine.

| If anybody travelled expecting Warrington a week before Wembley to go at it hammer and tongues then you are certifiable.
I was hoping that London might be even less bothered after the year they've had. It would seems that they react better to Tont Rea's aussie accent than they did to NWC level coaching of Powell.
At the end of the day it was a dummy run for the drive next week and come this time next week nothing will be further from my (or the team's) mind than last night's performance.

| Last night was weird really. It took us 5 hours to get there and then even when we got in we were wondering whether a loss would be the worst thing in the world or not. The lack of people there, being sat at the side, it felt like we were there watching 2 other teams playing kind of like a Magic Weekend game. People were understandably angry at the end of the game but for some reason we just didn't feel like that. It's obviously annoying to go all that way and get battered like that but we're 2nd in the league and off to Wembley next week.
Plus, us finishing 2nd now means that I won't be in work for the first playoff game which is a bonus at least...

| I'll expect a big reaction from last night on Saturday, plus now Leeds are favourites.

| Quote: runningman29 "Warrington were not good!Understatement of the year.As it's been already stated in previous posts from the very 1st 5mins you just knew that this Warrington team was not interested in putting any effort in whatsoever which even if it is Wembley next week is a shameful way to treat the die hards who have spent good money not to mention the time to travel down on a Friday. The bottom line is players had the chance to step up last night to impress + they failed big time which only leads to the conclusion that 1 were the players that know they won't be on next week in the mind set that why should they bust a gut in a meaningless game + 2 the so called regulars who know they're nailed on for a place didn't want to get injured?Eitherway this can only have a negative effect when fans are thinking of renewing their season tickets as if the players can pick their games why can't the supporters?.Defeat is acceptable with effort but totally unacceptable when there is none.'"
That was my view... after the first ten minutes I said we would lose by 40-50 and was disappointed by the end to be proven right.
It was the lack of shape, communication and intensity in the defensive line that was bothering me.
Just proves what influence Briers has with our attack and Hodgson has on our defence. They call the shots and are two players who can read the game.

I agree, there are loads on here who bang on about how we have so much strength in depth you can field 2 equally strong teams yadayada
There are some players we can't replace, starting with Briers. And Hodgson has class running through him head to toe.

It showed last night how much Hodgson marshalls the shape of our defence by reading and communicating what he sees in front of him. And if there is a chance of a failure of the structure or a kick to return he is ALWAYS in the right place.
He also deputises for Briers and provides an alternative floating pivot in attack.
One of the best players I have ever seen at Warrington.

| Last night was more about stying fresh and fit for wembley & the play off system than it did about a wire performance. lets face it we won the league last year but its Leeds that got all the glory.

Totally Agree. Riley (playing out of position), and anyone else for that matter, can't read the game like Brett does.

| Quote: Live Wired "Just a few obvious notes on tonights game, and the season in general.
1/ You can count on 1 hand the number of impressive games we have played this season.
2/ We are nowhere near as an impressive team as we were last season. ( please don't quote stats like, by this time last season........
3/ A lot of the players on the pitch tonight we're just not interested..
4/ When Briers ( and it's taken 8 pages to name him) is not on the pitch, we are utterly clueless.
5/ This season has been by far the worse I can remember ( quality-wise) in SL. The sooner P+R is brought back, the franchise system is ridden, and winning SL is far more important than a separate comp finalising at Old Trafford, the better. What other sporting organisation rewards a team to be higher than the 1 that wins it's weekly rounds?
6/ Get Bridge fully-fit and put him 2nd row.
7/ Myler...just go away, only Offiah is laughing
8/ London played very well. Ok, they got a few decisions, but David Howells was certainly impressive, they were fast, hungry, clever at the ptb and Luke Dorn was 6/4 to score anytime
jacko..point number 6 regarding putting bridge in the 2nd row you go on about him being a stand off now you want him in the 2nd row..how come??point number 9 how do you that performance wont be turned around it was after the salford game..defo agree with points 3,4 and 5..i said it earlier give me 2nd every year and to contest a final very happy with that..where was your 10 pointers after we thrashed sts and pies....

Too right, and he's underrated in my view.
What I have always felt about Hodgson is his decision making is perfect, he is in the right place making the right decision every time, he just strikes me as a bloke that knows rugby league and how to read a game inside out.
I started watching Warrington when Brian Johnson had retired as a player and started coaching so I don't remember him as fullback, so Hodgson is the best fullback I have ever seen at Warrington.

You missed a peach in Johnno. His kick returns were fantastic, his pace was incredible. Lyon was a pretty good successor, but he didn't have the pace of Johnson.

| Was Embarrassing to watch can't believe people traveled down for that game. I can accept we rested players so defeat didnt bother me as 2nd is secure its just the lack of effort and intensity on show that was disappointing. I expected us to be poor in attack as we didn't have a decent kicking game( Basically every kick was a bomb that was rarely contested). Its the defence that annoyed me. London played some great rugby but to concede 62 points isn't acceptable our line speed was non existent.

| I went last night and no, didn't expect a great performance or a bucket full of tries either. I did though expect a professional, committed display from the team. If that resulted in a win then great. If not then I wouldn't have cared less as the game itself was pretty irrelevant in todays Superleague structure. What we actually got was a couldn't be d performance that showed knob all regards for the fans and the club itself. I didn't abuse the team at the end but just walked away without a glance towards the pitch (My, hardly rebelious, way of showing dissapproval).
If this time next week we are the CC holders again then I won't give it another thought. If not then it will grate on me that we had lamely chucked away any hope of winning 1 of only 3 pieces of silverware available.
