The Damned United?

Heard it's one of the more inaccurate films of the modern era.

Quote: sally cinnamon "But remember our very own Tony Smith - when he was in charge of Huddersfield, the dirtiest team in the league in 2003. They used spoiler sthouse tactics and it got results with the limited team they had. Of course when Smith was at Leeds and Warrington with the players at his disposal he could use more attractive tactics. Maguire is doing the best with the personnel he has at his disposal - if he was in charge of a club like Leeds or Warrington whose to say he wouldn't play more adventurous rugby?'"

Was Smith spending the maximum on the salary cap on his Huddersfield squad of 2003?.....I wouldn't have thought so?

Maguire is, and still has to resort to tactics befitting those of a team scrapping for its life, rather than one that has the financial capability to bring in top quality rugby players and play open, entertaining rugby.

I fully agree that any successful side needs a ruthless streak, Wire certainly seem to have plenty of steel to go with the free-scoring rugby, but Maguire doesn't seem to know when to curb the snarling side to his and his side's personality.

Quote: lefty goldblatt "They're biting early, today
I only threw in a bit of groundbait, and I managed to reel a cherry'n'white troll, using only a worm and a 5lb line. Should I tell Angling Times?

Swinton was an analogy brought up by biscuit, and they do have some comparisons with Souths.

ATEOTD, you're just bigging-up a club you have no leanings to, save for your current coach going there, next year.

There's a famous line, spoken by Harold Shand (Bob Hoskins), in one of the best films of all time (imo) The Long Good Friday, which can equate to Souths being 'sleeping giants'
"Ive heard of a sleeping partner (giant), but you lot are in a f@@@ing coma"

Getting a previously third tier coach, and a Hollywood actor as an owner, does not make you a 'major player' in the NRL'"

Ahhh. So you realised you were wrong and then tried to claim refuge in the old "I was only fishing" argument. Ha ha! icon_lol.gif

err no

They're both living on past glories
neither really have a ground to call their own
There's two glaring similarities.

Your still forgetting the fact, your new 'favourite Australian team' aren't that good anymore (and haven't been for decades), and until Fadge starts 'turning water into wine', your new obsession will be forgotten about, in a few months.

Keep digging, Pie-breath icon_wink.gif

I think the thing that swung it, was the Gareth Thomas homosexual chants affair. He really did make himself look like a total whopper on that one.

No I didn't and it wasn't only me or indeed only Wigan fans who had a problem with the comments. I recall for example that there was a particularly good post from a Saints fan on this board which set out why the comments were potentially offensive.

There's no point in going over old ground. You don't accept it was offensive. I would not have been happy if Madge had made similar comments.
