| Quote Mr Snoodle="Mr Snoodle"Coming back here with only an assistant coach gig under his belt is too much like the often ridiculed "jobs for the boys" that has been discussed on here previously.
Let him prove himself as 1st team coach elsewhere, then if he's any good.......'"
The difference with Briers is he was part of the successful Wigan team winning a grand final, with Wigan playing some outstanding rugby that season. Then been part of a Broncos set up reaching a grand final, with team not really expected to make a grand final. He’s input in both teams was a massive contributing factor in their success. I’d say Briers is more than ready to take a top job in super league.

More is the pity he did not have such alleged influence when he was assistant coach with us from 2018 - 2021.

That was the first thought in my mind.

i've had 2 heroes whilst watching warrington, paul cullen and lee briers,
2008 was a very upsetting time for me as a fan, i dont think highly thought of ex players/legends should come back to a club as a coach, anywhere, its n a long enough timeline it'll end in disapointment

Maybe, Steve Price wasn’t overly keen on playing attacking rugby. Yes, before anyone mentions the CC win and grand final appearance. He’s brand of rugby got us to those finals, but it was dull and bland.

| All the in-the-knows seems convinced it's happening. Confirmation from family, friends and 'people who would definitely know' all over the place. All the usual suspects are claiming it, but even the ones who genuinely seem to know seem to think it's happening.
It seems bizarre to me on the face of it, but I'd welcome it. Quite what Lee gets from trading Reece Walsh, Selwyn Cobbo, Kotoni Staggs, Ezra Mam and Adam Reynolds for Jon Bennison, Waqa Blake and Tee Ritson I'm not too sure.

Read into that what you will. I am not convinced he is the coaching messiah, least not for us.

| Big Sam doesn't seem to be doing a bad job so far for a former assistant.

| I wonder if Martin Gleeson has ambitions to become a head coach one day, or is happy to continue as an attack specialist and assistant? I'm very impressed with the job he's doing at Wire thus far.

Shush, don’t want him going anywhere. Is he on a 2 year contract.
