| Not sure I can go along with Lee Briers being rated as a top coach all of a sudden. He had plenty of time here to demonstrate his coaching credentials but, as admittedly an outsider, they are quite difficult to identify.
He always seemed to be subservient to Price whenever I saw him and he has worked with the Academy with limited success.
At Wigan, both he and Peet have benifited with Bevan French and Jai Field both being on fire at the same time with little need for coaching ability.
Then again my view might have been clouded by seeing him beat the Wigan drum and admit he has always been a Saints supporter.

| Fair to say he's [ireinvented himself [/i.
He last pulled a Wire jersey on, nearly a decade ago.
We move him to a coaching capacity, and he goes through the motions, for the best part of that decade.
He moves on, and helps transform Wigan from dull as ####, to easy on the eye. And now he's headhunted to Australia.
Maybe our last two coaches held him back?

Maybe but that doesn’t reflect well on himself. Perhaps should have backed himself to get a job elsewhere rather than take a backseat and take the money.

Who'd've employed him at that time, at a role higher than the one we gave him???....no one.

| When he's sunning himself in Brisbane next year I wonder if he will look back at Warrington and think of what he missed out on by leaving us, when we're in the Championship going to places like Dewsbury and Barrow and he will think "I could have been part of that"

| Hard to disagree with Lefty's observations. Harry Smith has been completely transformed. You would have to imagine most of that will be down to Briers. He is going to be tough to replace. There aren't many former top class half back coaches knocking around. Sean Long maybe, but he is thicker than a Victorian toilet.

I'm counting overall contribution to Wire.
If its "who is the best RL player who played at some point for Wire" then Johns.
If its "who played at the highest level in a Wire jersey" then Davies.

Bobby Fulton was head and shoulders above Andrew Johns and Jonathon Davies, as good as they were. The closest in style I have seen to Fulton was Chris Sandow, but Fulton carried that standard throughout his career.
He was a Stockton Heath lad as well.

Yeah I think the caveat of Sally was "in their lifetime". Fulton is a great shout with 16 games for the wire in 1969/70.

Maybe our toxic atmosphere and the bad apples held him back?
